IGM Purchases GameTunnel but needs community support to redesign and improve the site. Donate towards the project and earn great Indie Game Mag and Xbox Live rewards!
Wilmington, DE, March 3, 2011-- Indie Game Magazine (www.indiegamemag.com), the premier source of independent gaming news, reviews and culture, has just purchased GameTunnel (www.gametunnel.com) and is attempting to breathe new life into the site with a Kickstarter Promotion.
GameTunnel (www.gametunnel.com) was one of the first websites that focused on the indie gaming scene. It was founded in 2002 and had years of great coverage, monthly game roundups, game of the year awards, indie game reviews and more. After months of penny-pinching, the Indie Game Mag finally coughed up and purchased GameTunnel.
“The Indie Game Magazine looks forward to carrying on the tradition of GameTunnel,” said Mike Gnade, Editor and Publisher of Indie Game Mag. “There is no doubt in my mind that the indie games community will band together to help make this site great once again.”
As a community-driven magazine, IGM doesn’t have the time and resources to rehabilitate GameTunnel, so IGM will be giving away a slew of rewards for anyone who supports its campaign to Save and Redesign GameTunnel. You can help redesign and save GameTunnel by visiting: http://kck.st/eVLvhr.
The Goal of the project is to not only receive support from the indie games community, but also have supporters influence the final design and features of GameTunnel.com. IGM will be using Kickstarter to share website concepts and create a dialogue with the indie and casual game community. Backers of the Kickstarter project will be able to contribute and communicate directly with the people working on GameTunnel’s metamorphosis.
IGM is available for single purchase as well as via subscription in both print and digital formats, as well as the iPhone and iPad . To find out what you've been missing, visit the IGM website: www.indiegamemag.com.
ABOUT GameTunnel:
GameTunnel (www.gametunnel.com) was one of the first websites that focused on the indie and casual gaming scene. It was founded in 2002 and had years of great coverage, monthly game roundups, game of the year awards, indie game reviews and more. The founder of the site, Russell Carroll, left a few years ago and the new owners tried to carry on the site's legacy, but eventually got overwhelmed and stopped generating new content back in September of 2009.
ABOUT IGM:
Indie Game Magazine (www.indiegamingmag.com) is the premier source of news and culture for the independent gaming. Started in October 2008 and published bi-monthly by Mike Gnade, IGM has matured into a definitive voice for the indie gaming scene. Combining no-nonsense reviews, in-depth reviews and long-form features with the leading lights of the industry, the magazine, like the games it covers, is independently owned and fiercely independent as it strives to highlight the artists and community behind what it deems the most creative branch of the video gaming universe.
