Widget Revolt Launches Ice Tales

San Francisco, California - Indie developers Widget Revolt today announces Ice Tales 1.0, their first retro arcade gaming title for iOS. Ice Tales is a classically inspired maze game where old meets new. With modern, full-screen controls, the game is based on the journey of Pendleton Penguin who is trying to rescue his friends from an evil queen. As you try to help Pendleton, you must help him outmaneuver the queen's complicated mazes by sliding and flying across distant icebergs, angry volcanoes and an evil palace while avoiding enemies. The game is appropriate for all ages. Ice Tales is a great value on the App Store at US $.99 for the iPhone/iPod version and US $1.99 for the iPad version. A lite version is available for free.

"Sometimes you want an alternative to a casual game just for a little variety," says Brian Chen, product manager and Widget Revolt co-founder. "Unlike some of the other retro concepts that have been released, we wanted to create a title that harkened back to the excitement of the classic arcade games in a way that is appropriate for a modern mobile platform. This game plays in a way that won't frustrate players. With cartoonish graphics, original 8-bit compositions and responsive controls that suit the platform, we think Ice Tales has redefined retro games for iOS in a unique way."

With four exciting chapters filed with increasingly more complicated mazes and dozens of achievements, Ice Tales challenges players to clear mazes by collecting starfish, baskets of fish and other goodies. Along the way you must conquer giant crabs, evil seals, hungry squid, angry sea birds, moon walking polar bears and the queen herself to save the day and rescue your friends. With full Game Center integration, all chapters can be replayed to earn bigger bonuses and achievements while increasing your score and challenging your friends. With multiple difficulty settings, the game can adapt to the player, with challenges for both younger players and experienced players alike.

Features of Ice Tales include:
* Journey across four different chapters in distant icebergs, angry volcanoes and an evil queen's palace
* Collect starfish, baskets of fish and other goodies to make it through the queen's evil mazes, earn bonuses and achievements
* Defend yourself from giant crabs, evil seals, hungry squid, angry sea birds, moon walking polar bears and the ice queen herself
* Chapter select feature allows you to skip chapters of the game you've already completed or play them again for a better score

* Old made new again game play: Full screen swipe to move and tap to jump mimic classic arcade games in a responsive, fun way
* Challenging retro arcade game play with 3 difficulty settings for the casual gamer to the avid gamer
* Challenge your friends with Game Center integration
* Take a trip back in time. Cute retro-graphics optimized for Retina Display
* Original 8-bit soundtrack

Facepuncher Worldwide debuts CastleAbra and a Kickstarter campaign

Facepuncher Worldwide today announces CastleAbra, their new funny, epic and beautiful game debuts as a Kickstarter project. CastleAbra will be a traditional first person, point and click exploration game in the style of such classics as Shadowgate and Myst. A magical tale that centers on the heartache of unrequited love. But promises to set itself apart with a comedic style that ranges from subtle and sophisticated to zany and broad. To be released on Mac, PC and handheld devices.

Elizabeth, New Jersey - CastleAbra is a hugely ambitious adventure game from first time indie developers Facepuncher Worldwide. It is a traditional first person, point and click exploration game in the style of such classics as Shadowgate and Myst. But sets itself apart with a comedic style that ranges from subtle and sophisticated to zany and broad.

It tells the tale of a lonely, old wizard named Wizardo who is hopelessly in love with the beautiful, young Princess Myrna Loo. Not realizing that he is forever trapped in the "friend zone" he makes a courageous attempt at winning her affection, and is politely declined. Not willing to accept his fate he locks her in his castle with dastardly intentions of winning her over. Your role is to infiltrate the castle, befriend the wizard and work behind his back to rescue your beloved Princess.

While not a hugely original concept, CastleAbra will win you over with its style and execution. We plan to tell a funny story that explores the painful side of human emotions mainly centering on the heartache of unrequited love. One look at our trailer and intro should tell you that we have something beautiful and unique on our hands.

CastleAbra has been in production for the past 18 months. We hope to make a grand, immersive game. Over 75 locations have been hand painted with the hope of having a total of 100. This is in addition to several minutes of lush animation. The game will appear first on Mac and PC and will eventually land on iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7.

About our Kickstarter project:

We launched our Kickstarter project with the hope of receiving the funds necessary for completing the game. We're true independent developers. We've been working on the game for the last 18 months and have a good deal more to do before it's finished. This is a truly ambitious project and we will need support in order for our game to reach its fullest potential. We are offering some cool rewards including custom art by the artist sent directly to you.

Elite Command - New release! Graphical overhaul, achievements, faster server, and more!

Today is a big day for Elite Command, with a huge batch of improvements both small and large.

* New server! Elite Command has been getting a little slow with the larger user base, and often times the chat server would go down under the load, bringing things to all but a screeching halt. This release includes lots of under-the-hood tune-ups as well as a new, beefier server, which should make slowdowns a thing of the past.

* New graphics! We hired a new graphic artist to create all-new terrain, base, and unit graphics. We think you'll agree that everything looks much more polished now. (Note: If you don't see the new graphics in your game, try refreshing the page.)

* Achievements! For various accomplishments within the game, large and small, you will now start earning badges. Many of the badges are repeatable. We kept the new artist very busy coming up with the graphics for these badges, and these are just the first batch of achievements... We plan to add many more in the next releases.

* Trophies! Similar to badges, now when you beat someone one-on-one, you earn a trophy with their name on it. See how many rivals' names you can rack up!

* All-new user profile! Alongside the familiar stats and list of current games, the first thing you now see on your user profile is a display case featuring your badges and trophies. There is also a history tab so you can page through your entire game history, listing the maps, the players involved, and the outcome.

* All-new maps section! You can now browse by most recent as well as most popular. Clicking a map reveals the details of how many times each player has won, giving a better idea of each map's balance. You can also see the map's starting credits, which is now configurable in the map editor.

* Unrated games! When starting a new game, you have the option to make it an unrated game, meaning that no rankings will change as a result of that game. This is perfect for when you want to play strictly for fun, or to test out a new map.

* Real-time game alerts! Many players like to keep a tab open with Elite Command so they can come back and refresh and see if they have turns to take. Well, now you don't need to refresh. New game alerts are now sent to your page in real-time, and the number of alerts waiting is reflected in the page title.

Those are the major points. There is also a slew of minor fixes and enhancements that the keen-eyed will notice as they play.

This release has been a big undertaking, and we hope for it to set the stage for even bigger things to come, so stay active in the forums and have a say in Elite Command's ongoing development!

As always, go forth and conquer!

Izar 1.0 for iOS - Retro-Style, Turn-Based, Strategy RPG

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation - SVP Mobile today is pleased to introduce Izar 1.1 for iOS, their new retro-style, turn-based, strategy RPG. Set in an ancient, mythical kingdom, the game is an epic saga about a knight who returns home after a long journey to find his castle partly destroyed and his army scattered. The role-playing aspect of the game involves spells, quests, and journeys to help restore the lost symbols of Magic, Arrow, and Sword to the castle. Whenever combat is required the game switches to turn-based, tactical mode. Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Heroes of Might and Magic, Izar includes magic, combat, castle building, training and equipping soldiers, and managing monetary resources.

Played in landscape mode, the game launches with a parchment scroll that establishes the story and goals of the game. "The Way to Home - You are back to your castle after long months of traveling across distant lands to find it partly destroyed and your army scattered. The magic tower is no longer of any help. As your elite warriors were leaving the castle, they lost the symbols of Magic, Arrow and Sword. You must bring them back to the castle."

Like the best RPGs, the game is highly detail-oriented. Knights, elf archers, dwarfs, paladins, and beholders may be recruited for the player's army, and each has his own Health and Attack values, as well as Price. There is a wide variety of armor and weapons available to increase the power of soldiers under special, specified circumstances. Also present are numerous, danger-filled locales presenting unique challenges and rewards. Castle upgrades bestow additional capabilities to the player's troops. Games may be saved and resumed at a later time, allowing for protracted, strategic gameplay.

Feature Highlights:
* Tactical combat involving attack and control spells
* Building a castle to upgrade your troops
* Building a mages tower to unlock new spells
* Free navigation through the game world with dozens of fantastic locations

"In creating Izar we sought to combine the best of magical RPGs and turn-based combat games," stated Sergey Voronov. "Spend a few hours listening to Renaissance music and the chirping of birds in the forest, as you ride across the countryside on noble quests, seeking victory and the return of balance to your kingdom."

Language Support:
* US English and Russian

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* Requires iOS 3.2 or later (iOS 4.3 tested)
* 27.8 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Izar 1.1 is $2.99 (USD) and available worldwide through the App Store in the Games category.

Remembering what they've been through in the streets of Cairo with the police forces and the thugs during 18 Long Hard days and all of a sudden Eissa said "We should create a game documenting this great experience!".

They liked the idea and they all started planning how to make it happen and 53 days later it was finally true. Egyptian Revolution the iPhone Game was released to the App Store on May 23rd 2011. The Game is in the Role Playing Category because you play as a protester in the first mode and play as a policeman in the second mode.

The game experience is great, a combination of real photos from Tahrir Square is displayed between the levels as loading screens to give a feeling to the player of what was going on that time and gives a background to the level he is about to play.

The Protester Mode contains confrontations between a protester named Nubi Who is trying to make his way to Tahrir Square to join the rest of his friends but policemen stands between him and his target. They threw tear gas bombs at him but he dodges them and returns them to the sender. Other policemen were shooting rubber bullets his way which he can avoid them or stop them by using the shield he acquired .

The Police Mode contains the other point of view, a policeman named Sami who is trying to follow the orders from his superiors to stop all people trying to enter Tahrir Square. He encounters some protesters throwing rocks and molotov bombs at him , unfortunately he is out of ammo so all he can do is return the molotov back at them and avoid the rocks, basically stall them till he gets reinforcements.

The game took a huge amount of money and effort to be developed in this short time and contains all those pictures and functionality. Egyptian Revolution for iPhone has Game Center integrated to help player compare their scores world wide and always try and finish the game with higher and higher score.
