Neither wind, nor rain, nor gloom of night, can stop the Icarus.

Oct 30, 2012 – A hurricane on the day you launch an airship is usually a bad sign, but not this time. Guns of Icarus Online(www.gunsoficarus.com) has finally risen, propelled by the winds of Hurricane Sandy. The entire Muse Games staff worked from home while they and the entire City of New York faced down one of the worst storms of the century. Guns of Icarus Online is the first co-operative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four people will crew a ship, taking on one of the key roles of Captain, Gunner, or Engineer joining a team and fighting against other ships above the post-apocalyptic waste. In Guns of Icarus Online, it will take teamwork and tactics to dominate the skies.

It took the small eight person team over a year of development, the help of 1500 Kickstarter based alpha testers, friends, family, and the thousands who pre-ordered to enjoy the beta. "This, however, is just the start of the story of Guns of Icarus Online," says Howard Tsao, owner of Muse Games. "We have a great many promises yet to fulfill over the coming months as we continue to add content and improve player experience. The game is fun, making it even more fun will be our priority from this point forward and everything from new ships, weapons, costumes, maps, game modes, and PVE content is coming. So be ready, because Guns of Icarus has finally taken off."

Fantasy FPS: Community Driven Game Development

FANTASY FPS “NIGHTREALM TALES” IS COMMUNITY DRIVEN
With the rise of Kickstarter game projects in 2012, the gaming community has gained unparalleled access to the game development process. But even with the meteoric rise of Kickstarter, Archetype Global is looking to push this integration even further with their premiere title “Nightrealm Tales”, a game driven by community feedback and ideas, from alpha stages to completion.

Nightrealm Tales is a class-based FPS title in the same vein as Team Fortress 2 orTribes: Ascend, but with a focus on melee and magic combat. The title will be a multi-player game, where players can chose to war with one of two factions, the noble Banner or the vicious Swarm. Each faction includes 6 unique character/classes, each catering to unique playing styles. The characters include Men, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Ogres, Goblins and more! Nightrealm Tales utilizes Crytek’s next-generation CryEngine 3 technology to create its beautiful and dangerous new fantasy world.

Archetype Global was founded in early 2012 by Micah Hymer, founder of indie developer Reverie World Studios. The developers behind the MMORTS “Dawn of Fantasy”,  published by 505 Games in 2011. Archetype has formed an incredibly talented base of both experienced developers and talented ‘up-and-comers’ to work on its initial title. And with a successful background of boot-strapping and working with limited funding, Archetype has both the technical and business savvy to complete its premiere title, Nightrealm Tales.

Introducing Slide DB

Giving mobile game developers a place to promote their creations

Melbourne - October 19, 2012 - After months of stealth development the creators of IndieDB.com, ModDB.comand Desura.com have announced the launch of SlideDB.com a developer driven mobile games news site.

With so much noise and content in the mobile gaming space, it is hard for developers of new IP to reach fans. When asked what can be done, Scott Reismanis the Founder of SlideDB commented "At the moment mobile developers are mostly at the mercy of app-store top charts and editor curated blogs, both of which allow little control. We hope to change this by putting the creators in control and providing another way of connecting with potential fans via SlideDB."
SlideDB

In the mobile space there needs to be more ways to reach players interested in the game you've built without being dependent on paid ads, reviews and befriending the right people. "With ModDB.com and IndieDB.com reaching over 200,000+ readers daily, we've already had great success helping independent developers showcase their work. And with so many mobile games all competing for the few "top chart slots" available - it makes sense for us to expand our network." stated Scott Reismanis. Developers interested in sharing what they are creating, and players interested in discovering up and coming mobile games encouraged to start interacting via SlideDBtoday.

About SlideDB
Mobile and tablet have opened up a new world of gaming anywhere and everywhere you want. You can slide, tap, shake and play all manner of games from family friendly educational titles to adventurous classics. On Slide DB we give developers a community they can share their ideas with and showcase the work they are doing, beyond the basic app stores and the highly contested "top charts". This could be a game that couldn’t fit into any other category, but the Jury each year determines the criteria for assignment of this award. Past recipients could have included Gravitation (2008), Moon Stories (2009), Groping in the Dark (2010) and Fez (2011). This year the jury chose from more than 500 games from 5 different continents.  The winners were chosen by a panel of industry luminaries including: Kellee Santiago, Co-founder and former President of Thatgamecompany; Jonathan Blow, Developer of Braid; J. Stewart Burns, Producer and Writer of The Simpsons and Futurama. On Sunday, Oct. 7 the Audience and Developer Choice Awards were announced at the closing party.

“The IndieCade awards celebrate the unique artistic vision and talent across the spectrum of independent games.  This special event serves as an important platform to support the next generation of independent games, and highlight their incredible quality.” said Stephanie Barish, CEO, IndieCade. “We are honored to have so many outstanding titles in this year’s show and to be able to share them with the thousands of attendees that came to the festival.”
