Skylight - Turn-based RPG that uses FPS items and elements

Posted by Dave Seaman on Tuesday, 18 January 2011

Skylight follows GTAL, a law enforcement agency based in Toronto, their dealings with the human-deforming Skylight Symbiote and those who get involved with it. The game begins in the year 2023 and time advances alongside the story in the form of chapters

The gameplay features:
  • Different customization paths; learn passive and active abilities or boost stats in any order you choose
  • Each weapon brings a different strategy; Shotguns for close-range attacks, Rifles for long-range, Fist fighting for progressively higher damage (combos), Rocket Launchers for massive damage and area, and more. Weapons can also be customized with weapon mods
  • Use the battlefield's spacing and range to your strategic advantage by positioning your characters; use the environment further by using Search to find ammo, items and exploding barrels mid-fight (Exploding barrels are not in the demo)
  • Fulfill certain random battle conditions to earn bonus experience
  • Use a variety of combinations of commands and active and passive abilities, from the simple Defend + Attack, Gas + Fire, barrel chains and unarmed combos to more complex character-unique combos such as Heal/Attack/Stun in one turn, high damage unarmed attacks when at 1 HP and juggling Pistol and Rifle weapons for triple damage and evasion boosts
  • In-game Reference logs your progress through the game, and you can review gameplay and story concepts so that you can pick up from where you left off if you haven't played in a while
