Herndon, Virginia - Independent developer Vivek Desai today is pleased to announce 1 And Only 1 Clue version 1.1 for iOS, his game where players must match the number and color of squares (that being the 1 and only 1 clue) from a group of pictures in colored squares. For example, if the clue is 1 red square, the player must look at all the pictures on the board in red squares, and select the one whose picture occurs only once (in a red square) on the board. Selecting a picture in a red square that also appears on the board in a blue square is an incorrect answer. Using text and audio, and two levels of play, the game is appropriate for young children as well as adults. With text and audio options turned on, the game identifies and announces the object matched, which will be helpful to younger children. 1 And Only 1 Clue may be played in single player mode, auto mode (the iOS device plays the game), or 2-player mode via Bluetooth. There are both easy and normal levels of play.
1 And Only 1 Clue is an ideal example of a very simple premise being fully developed and executed. In easy mode the board consists of a 4 x 3 matrix of pictures in colored squares. The pictures are all of the same theme or category: animals, electronics, emotions, fruit, instruments, landmarks, professions, sports, or vehicles. Each game consists of a number of rounds, and a round counter decrements as gameplay proceeds. There is also a game clock that increments minutes/seconds as play continues. Incorrect guesses add ten seconds to the clock. The goal is to complete all the rounds of the game with the lowest clock time.
The game engages the mind on two levels simultaneously: players must consider both color and number of pictures when making matches. If the clue is 1 green square, 1 red square, and 1 blue square, the player must do a color search and then filter the results using a number search. For example, the player may begin by locating all the pictures in a green square. Then, they may filter those results by locating all those pictures that occur in both green AND red squares. Finally, results are filtered to locate the single picture that occurs in green AND red AND blue squares, but NOT any others. This exercises and entertains not only short-term, working memory, but also object and pattern recognition.
Feature Highlights:
* Builds analytical and logical thinking skills
* Improves concentration
* With many colorful built-in themes, child learns (without even knowing) while having fun
* Pictures supported with audio and text
* Supports multiple languages
* Supports two player mode using Bluetooth
* Always new, there are a near infinite number of puzzle combinations
* Multiple levels of gameplay for a greater challenge
In normal mode the board matrix is 8 x 4, significantly more challenging than easy mode. With 32 different squares to scan and 15 rounds to play, each game can be quite challenging to complete in the quickest time. Boards are generated randomly, so the odds of playing the same game twice are extremely small. Games may be paused and resumed, and there is a high score library for each of the nine categories, as well as best overall time. Both sound f/x and the display timer may be toggled on/off.
"Logical and analytical skills, and short-term, working memory are important in solving all kinds of everyday problems," stated independent developer Vivek Desai. "1 And Only 1 Clue can help develop and maintain these abilities, automatically, while players are having fun."
