Gravity Tow released for the Android

Posted by Dave Seaman on Monday, 16 August 2010

We are writing the year 2593 AD. It was almost 20 years ago, when the second interplanetary war began. All started with a minor incident. A group of pubescent space rowdies landed on the planet Dork 42 and put a graffiti in the form of a human male genital on one of the ships on the parking lot. What they did not know - or maybe did not care about - was that this was the ship of Governor Sknorfz, the infamous son of the uncle of the brother of President Ljmnono, the leader of the Dorkians.

He was not amused and used his connections to start a war against earth. Luckily for mankind, the Dorkians were not a very advanced race. All they had was a large space fleet with billions of ships that did not have weaponry of any kind installed. Years went by with a great number of Dorkians crashing down on earth's surface in a kamikaze attack.

In 2582 human scientists finished the development of a new defense system. They sent thousands of satellites into the orbit of the earth - each one equipped with an incredibly strong gravity field generator and nuclear warheads. A high number of surveillance personnel monitored the sky with highly advanced observation devices. As soon as somebody spotted a Dorkian ship with his binoculars, he activated the closest satellite's gravity field generator, which activated one of the nuclear warheads. The Dorkship was then dragged towards the satellite and destroyed by a nuclear explosion.

It took the Dorkians until 2589 to recognize that there was no way anymore to smash their ships onto the earth's surface. They offered a peace treaty to the earth leader - the honorable Adalbert Smith - who made a very smart move. In the fine print of the peace treaty he slipped in a clause where the Dorkians agreed to accept regular shipments of nuclear waste onto their planet.

Now that the satellites had no use in warfare anymore, they were used as transportation devices to shoot containers with nuclear waste into space.

But enough with the history lesson. I welcome you to your new job as waste disposal manager. Your job is to transport the nuclear containers as far as you can into the general direction of planet Dork 42.

To do this, you have to activate the gravity field generator of the satellite by clicking on it. Once it is activated, you do not need to stay with your finger over the satellite. When you remove your finger from the Display, the gravity field generator is deactivated again, but don't forget the nuclear war head! It is also active while the gravity field generator is on. Do not steer the container into an active satellite, or the nuclear warhead will explode.

Now enough chitchat, go to work, the waste storage is nearly full!

Android Gravity Tow is an addictive and challenging action game which could be best described as 'Reverse Doodle Jump.' It has an internet high-score where you can compare your results to others. The aim of the game is to pull up the waste container as high as possible by activating gravity fields.

Touchscreen required.

It is available now from Android Market: Gravity Tow (Link requires Android phone to work.)
