Graphic Novel, ComiXPlay, Coming to PC Feb 24

RAMAT-GAN, ISRAEL - Jan. 19, 2016 - ComixPlay #1: The Endless Incident, a playable 124 page digital graphic novel, will release for Windows and Mac via Steam on Feb. 24, 2016. Combining the story telling of comic books with the gameplay of videogames, The Endless Incident sends players on a sci-fi adventure where they can control superheroes in battle.

Whenever the heroes engage in a fight, readers will be prompted to either skip the videogame section and continue with the traditional graphic novel format or have the heroes leap out of the panel and into the battleground. Each of the five heroes, members of The Solar Defenders, has six to seven superpowers to utilize in turn-based combat during their quest to protect the universe.

The Solar Defenders have come together from all over the world with one mission: to protect Earth. A talented inventor from Puerto Vallarta, Eduardo "Gizmo" Flores can fix any machine and utilize his creations such as the freeze ray to enhance his fighting ability. Tom "Ace" Corben possesses colossal super-strength and can manipulate energy with his tremendous physical power while Grace "Nightingale" Jackson has an extraordinary healing ability.

Set one hundred years in the future, a menace from beyond the stars threatens the entire solar system and only a genetically enhanced team of heroes, The Solar Defenders, can save it. As they chase their powerful foe across the galaxy, it becomes clear that they can no longer trust the people around them are still human - not even themselves.

A talented group of artists and designers, including former DC and Marvel illustrator Al Sirois, have come together to create ComixPlay #1: The Endless Incident. Other characters the team has worked on includes Superman, Batman, X-Men, Flash and Wonder Woman.

"Videogames and film increasingly draw inspiration from the plots and story-telling in graphic novels, but the comics industry has not borrowed the best parts of other mediums," said Assaf Cohen, CEO, ComixPlay. "ComixPlay is the next step in this pop culture evolution, taking the action-packed gameplay of a videogame and combining it with the storytelling and format of a graphic novel."

About ComixPlay

ComixPlay was founded in 2013 to return graphic novels to the forefront of pop culture in new and innovative ways by combining the best aspects of other mediums with the traditional comic format.

Welcome The New Year With A New Approaching Infinity Upgrade!

Developer Ibology has just made available a brand new patch for Approaching Infinity. The patch upgrades the game to version 1.3 and is full of bloom caves, golden pollen, and red honey goodness, with fixes, changes and many new additions, all meant to enhance this already superb game.

The version 1.3 patch includes:
  • Added: 3 new officer classes - operative, pathfinder, transmutor.
  • Added: bloom caves.
  • Added: red honey, which is dropped by some insects. Triples your melee damage, but increases your oxygen consumption. What a dilemma!
  • Added: 4 new planet monsters!
  • Changed: fake ID & comm jammer. Both reduce the effect of questing for other races.
  • Changed: when crafting space suits, it is now possible to create one with a power that you already know.
  • And many more. For full details on the updates found in the 1.3 patch please check out its changelog.
The patch, for both PC and Mac versions, can be downloaded from the Approaching Infinity product page, located below. Saved games are completely compatible with this update, so refitting can be done in the middle of your current jaunt amongst the endless stars.

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Ibology/AI/AI_page.html

Approaching Infinity is a single-player sci-fi turn based graphical rogue-like game set in an infinite universe with no level caps or map limits. Explorer, pirate, mercenary, trader, or perhaps a mixture, the where and why of your adventures is entirely up to you. There are multiple victory conditions that allow a hard win, but there is also simply the sense of satisfaction of your own five year trek across the stars. Approaching Infinity is a true galactic exploration game, where you (and sometimes fate!) will decide when your tale is over.

As the mysteries of the universe are revealed the player can upgrade their starship, better their crew, buy low and sell high on the galactic commodity market, craft new items, meet new aliens, board wrecks, explore planets, caves, ruined cities, and take on a multitude of quests. And while the game is rogue-like in the sense of content totally procedurally generated, it is a player friendly rogue-like, allowing permadeath to be optional.

Additionally, beyond packing thousands and thousands of hours of gameplay into the standard version of Approaching Infinity players can freely mod practically everything in the game.

For more information on Approaching Infinity, including the month-long special price, be sure to visit the product page at the link we gave you to download the patch. And check out Shrapnel Games' full catalog at www.shrapnelgames.com for our complete selection of eclectic gaming goodness. Our library speaks to the discerning gamer.

SUPER Run Away With Me - The side scrolling retro action platformer.

The hardcore retro tie-in game of the upcoming indie Sci-Fi film Run Away With Me. No ads, no in-app purchases, no mercy, ALL ACTION!

FEATURES:
-A unique gameplay mechanic which combines the forgiving modern convention of regenerating health with the unforgiving time restrictions of yore. This results in a constant conflict between offensive and defensive play styles that change with every level. It's easy to get into, very difficult to master.
-9 blistering levels ripped straight out of the movie! Walk through dungeons, race through the desert, fly above a war zone and fight your way through a futuristic city that pierces the clouds.
-3 game modes. Side scrolling platform/shooting levels are broken up by a classic driving section simulating "Mode 7" graphics and a dogfighting level that lets you pilot using your device's accelerometer.
-A branching storyline with over 16 (mostly skippable, don't worry) cutscenes that leads to multiple endings. The story fills in the gaps and presents alternatives to what the movie shows you in a pseudo Japanese-English translated patois for maximum retro authenticity.
-Over 30 authentic Chiptune film soundtrack remixes and original songs. Lots of sampled speech and sound effects from the film all lovingly bitsmashed and degraded for old school cool.
-More than 20 enemy types that will try to stop you on your quest.
-Genuine retro graphics using hand pixellated frames and CG assets from the film overlaid with CRT scan lines for that elusive arcade experience (The irritating kid who offers to push the jump button for you is not provided).

THE STORY:
The future. One of the last remaining cities on Earth. Abraham, a former soldier, has come out of prison for a crime he was forced to commit ten years earlier.   With no way of reclaiming the idyllic life he once led, he accepts work from a mysterious benefactor named Ingram.

Abraham is tasked with a dangerous mission to save humanity. Along the way he forms a relationship with Marja, a strikingly beautiful woman with a link to his past.  All is not what it seems as time runs out and Abraham questions where his loyalties lie.  The fate of humanity hangs in the balance.

"The Repopulation" Launching on PC Q4 2015

CHICAGO - May 20, 2015 - The Repopulation, the Kickstarter-funded sci-fi sandbox MMORPG from Above and Beyond Technologies, will launch for Windows in Q4 of 2015.  Gamers will be provided a level of freedom unparalleled in MMORPGs as they embark on an epic adventure on the distant planet of Rhyldan.  Currently available on Steam Early Access, the title will be feature complete this summer.

The Repopulation is one of the most ambitious MMORPGs to date, due in part to the game's nation building system.  Players can construct sprawling metropolises from the ground up, paying attention to the minutest details such as furniture placement.  These nations are inhabitable by other players, NPCs and if the citizens aren't careful, enemy players and mob.

In combat gamers choose between two systems.  The more traditional RPG setting has numerous macros across the bottom and optional tab targeting.  The action setting plays like a third-person shooter with the keyboard controlling movement and the mouse aim.  Limbs can be targeted and damaged to impair enemies.  In both systems, when the action heats up vehicles, turrets and mechs can be deployed.

The open-ended nature of The Repopulation allows gamers to play how they desire.  Missions can be filtered, allowing individuals to focus on the gameplay experiences they enjoy most.  Unlike most MMOs, there are no character classes or leveling, thus decreasing the grinding nature of gameplay commonly found in the genre.  With more than 75 separate skills, each with 12 tiers, gamers can mix and match the talents they find most appealing to create their own perfect character.  With such a deep level of character customization, player interactions are key in order to find party members that complement each other.

"After more than five years of development, we are ecstatic to have a launch window," said Joshua Halls, developer, Above and Beyond Technologies.  "Gamers like you and I made The Repopulation possible, so we have paid close attention to feedback during testing to deliver the experience players want and deserve."

Set on the distant planet of Rhyldan, centuries into the future, players assume the role of a human clone whose original self was from the now destroyed Earth.  The clones, imprinted with all their former memories, must constantly battle for survival. However, death is a minor inconvenience as individuals can always be cloned after they perish.   Due to the limited resources on Rhyldan only select people are eligible for cloning and natural reproduction is not allowed, leading to a division in the colony.

Players choose between three factions: One World, One Nation supports the status quo; Free People's Republic believes in natural reproduction as well as cloning; and a rogue nation that is free to make and break alliances at will with the other groups.

Gamers who have already been enjoying The Repopulation will notice build 15.4.1 has added a host of new features.  These include a graphical update to Freedomtown, combat improvements, a new dungeon and multiple minigames.  To view the full patch notes please visit https://www.therepopulation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=9563

The Repopulation is available now on Steam Early Access for the sale price of $14.99.  The Repopulation typically costs $19.99.

More information about The Repopulation can be found at https://www.therepopulation.com/

INSPIRED BY CLASSIC SCIENCE FICTION

While seeking life on a distant planet, an astronaut discovers an abandoned Russian town. He suspects his mission is a hoax until a mysterious young woman saves him from a strange and deadly phenomenon... Lifeless Planet is a third-person action-adventure that features an old-school sci-fi story and spectacular environments in the spirit of classic action-adventures.

After a hard landing on the planet, the astronaut discovers the planet that was reported to be rich with life is instead a barren wasteland. When he goes searching for his crew, he makes a more startling discovery: evidence that humans have already been to this planet years ago! When he comes upon a deserted Soviet-era Russian town, he struggles to make sense of his mission. Did his light-speed travel to the planet send him back in time? Or is this all some strange Cold War hoax?

Along the way, the astronaut meets a Russian woman, Aelita, who is somehow able to survive the hostile atmosphere of the planet. Through an unusual natural phenomenon, her skin causes the soil to glow green under her feet. The player must use these glowing tracks as a guide across the planet past treacherous and deadly threats. Is she leading him to safety... or an untimely death?

Lifeless Planet was inspired by Cold War era science fiction stories, posing questions about humankind's desire for space travel. What if you journeyed across the galaxy to another planet, only to find humans had already been there? What kind of person would sign up for a one-way mission, leaving behind planet Earth and everyone they've ever known and loved... to go in search of an Earth-like planet?

Equipped with a limited-use jet-pack and a mobile robotic arm, the player must use wits and skill to solve puzzles, unravel the mystery, and survive the Lifeless Planet!

KEY FEATURES:

  • Explore 20 unique and atmospheric environments on a vast and treacherous planet.
  • Follow a mysterious young woman as she guides you past dangerous terrain and deadly life-forms.
  • Investigate the startling discovery of an abandoned Russian town.
  • Experience an exciting and intriguing story through rich graphics and cinematic cut-scenes.

DESIGNED & DEVELOPED IN ALASKA

Lifeless Planet was created by David Board of Stage 2 Studios while he lived in Alaska. His inspiration for the game stems from a love of classic 1950’s and 60’s sci-fi movies and TV shows. Coupled with a love for video games (and frankly not much else to do during those long dark Alaskan winter nights!) he has turned this passion into something unique and original. Lifeless Planet was one of the first games to be successfully funded on Kickstarter. David also looked to the Kickstarter community to find talent for music, voice acting, testing and many other aspects of the project. Alaska-based programmer and game developer Jazon Burnell lead the effort to bring Lifeless Planet to Xbox One.

Ascent Terraforming Video

April 7, 2015 – The biggest space MMO in the known galaxy, Ascent (http://store.steampowered.com/app/345010/), has unveiled a major update allowing players to terraform entire planets. The developers took a time-lapse video of what this process would look like using entirely in game footage:

Initial terraforming will only be done via Kickstarter backed rewards with only a handful of devices on small planets, however, Fluffy Kitten notes that this is the first step towards players being able to undertake super massive projects to terraform other planets and begin expanding humanity across the galaxy. Additionally, last week Ascent brought major graphical improvements to the clouds and atmospheres of planets, allowing you to visually identify what gasses may be present in an alien atmosphere.

Ascent is a space based MMO focused heavily on building, trading, exploring, mining, and politics, with a developing PvE combat system. It features a lot of science driven features ranging from realistic solar systems to manipulating the chemistry of planet atmospheres for habitation.
Humanity has fallen. The once prosperous people commanded the stars to do their bidding now find themselves at the mercy of a ruthless entropy. With just eight systems it will be up to every capable pilot to help end starvation, rebuild factories, and begin restoring humanity to its rightful place as commanders of their destiny.

Ascent is a space based MMO like none other. Not just the size and scope of the Milky Way galaxy, with 270 billion stars and over a trillion planets to explore, but the scientific modeling we use to craft realistic planets, suns, moons, asteroid fields and black holes. Learn about star formations at http://www.thespacegame.com/modellingthemilkyway.html and find out why Ascent is more than just a game.
This Early Access build features the ability to gain a variety of skills, such as asteroid mining and gas harvesting, and put them to work building up enough wealth to found your first colony on a distant world. With the management of that colony may come more wealth, more problems, and the ability to interact with galactic politics. This feature will allow you access to convince the other leaders to construct massively expensive hypergates to ease travel and trade to your system. Other political and structural improvements are in the works, as well as massive new systems for colonization, combat, and dynamic questing. Join early and be able to enjoy these cutting new features as they roll out at http://store.steampowered.com/app/345010/.

ABOUT FLUFFY KITTEN STUDIOS
On January 1st, 2013, at somewhere between about 1am and 6am, two dangerously inebriated IT managers decided something. Very few things are clear from this entirely undocumented meeting, but it is alleged that the pair hatched a plot to start a computer game development company - with the vision to make games that "Everybody plays", starting with a space game, later named... The Space Game.

'Star-Bored: Adventures in a Bureaucratic Dystopia' - Kickstarter Campaign

A new Kickstarter from the team that brought you Fantasy Tavern Simulator:

 Inline image 1Inline image 2

Take on the role of Chief Auditor for the Bureaucratic Imperium, and hunt down rebel terrorists while exploring a vast, dynamic galaxy!

Features:
  •  16 bit’ style RPG,
  •  Tactical, turn-based, strategic battles in space and on the ground,
  • A dark comedy full of classic sci-fi parody and absurd acronyms,
  • An infinite and dynamic procedurally-generated universe,
  • Strategic gameplay, including the employment of propaganda and the hacking of planetary satellites,
  • The ability to destroy planets!
Inline image 3
Background and Story:

While studying History at university, I discovered that the most interesting stories were not about the great wars between kings, or the ones concerning the famous names of which we’ve all heard, but about the shoemakers, field-hands, and simple soldiers. When creating games I try to apply the same theory by making the game’s protagonist the most unlikely of heroes: in our first game it was the story of a tavern keeper, in Star-Bored it is the story of a bureaucrat.

Star-Bored is a dark comedy, strategy RPG, set in the distant future where a vast and disturbing bureaucracy has taken control of the entire galaxy. Yet even as the Bureaucratic Imperium wraps the galaxy in red tape, rebel cells are forming on a thousand worlds; fighting back against the mountains of paperwork that threaten to bury them.  As a starship captain, and a high level bureaucrat, it is the player’s job to travel the emptiness of space, hopping from planet to planet, in order to defeat these rebels at all costs!

 Inline image 4

When the player arrives at each planet they are required to assess the rebel threat and respond accordingly, all within a certain number of days allotted by the Bureaucratic Imperium. Players must first infiltrate the planets satellites and defence systems in order to fully assess how much rebel activity is present, the number of rebel bases and terror cells, and the amount of the population that are sympathetic to the rebel cause.

In order to eliminate all rebel bases and sympathy the player has a host of options available to them such as launching missiles from the ship, sending in mechs and fighting tactical battles against the terrorists, or by waging propaganda campaigns against the population to turn them away from the rebels and back under the sway of the Bureaucratic Imperium. Some responses take time and others take credits, but if the player is unable to reduce the rebels to acceptable levels within the allotted time then they must make a final and terrible decision: whether or not to destroy the planet and potentially upset further planets in the sector, or leave them and let the rebel threat fester and grow.

Inline image 5

Alongside defeating the rebel scourge, the player can also explore a dynamic galaxy full of ancient alien relics, strange space monsters, and unique stellar events that will all help in forwarding their cause. Of course, no RPG would be complete without multiple endings and so the player is also faced with decisions that will shape the fate of the universe forever.

About us:

We are a small, family, indie company consisting of two adults and one child. We very much love what we do and are extremely happy to be able to continue working on games. We have just launched Star-Bored as our second Kickstarter after having a fantastic response to our first project ‘Fortune’s Tavern – The Fantasy Tavern Simulator!’
