Indie Irish game Scéal is out now

Scéal is a newly released game on Steam set in the little real world town of Carlingford, Ireland.

Created to look like a watercolour pop-up storybook, Scéal (meaning ‘story’ in Irish) tells the story of a young spirit trapped on Earth and her passage to the afterlife.

Dealing with the very real-world themes of isolation, abandonment, and salvation, players must colour the world around them and complete tasks for villagers in this narrative-driven adventure.

For a small team, they've gone above and beyond to make the game as authentic as possible:
  • It's the only known game set in Carlingford, replicating many of the town's buildings and landscapes. This short Behind the Scenes video demonstrates the levels of depth the developers are able to go into about the games unique location.
  • The game features an authentic Irish soundtrack, so much so that the developers worked with renowned folk singers Lorcan Mac Mathuna and Aislinn Duffy (amongst others) to create a beautifully haunting score. The soundtrack can be listed to here.
