Mariehamn, Finland - AX apps today is pleased to introduce Funky Fish 1.0 for iOS, their classic, side-scroller adventure game set underwater. In landscape mode the screen scrolls continuously from right to left carrying in the undersea current bubbles enclosing cakes, birds, and champagne bottles. The player controls the buoyancy of the single fish: touch the screen and the fish rises, don't touch the screen and it descends. The object is to collect as many bubbles as possible, while avoiding fishhooks and bubbles containing monsters. Although quite simple, the player chooses only whether to touch the screen or not, the game requires considerable coordination to avoid monsters and catch rewards.

As in some other side-scroller games, the player must be aware of limits to their vertical movement while they navigate horizontally. In Funky Fish the fish automatically swims downwards; only if the player touches the screen does the fish swim upwards. However, if the fish reaches the bottom he drowns, using up all of his three lives. If the fish reaches the surface of the water he will automatically start to swim downwards again. The fish, swimming left to right, maintains the same x-axis value at the far left of the screen. Only his y-axis value is constantly changing, as his buoyancy changes naturally or through the player's control.
Feature Highlights:
* Classic side-scroller adventure game
* Player controls the fish as he swims through the ocean
* Collect prize bubbles to gain points
* Avoid bubbles with monsters inside, and fishhooks from the surface
* Funky Fish has three lives before the game ends
* Apple Games Center Leaderboard (iOS 4.1) and Facebook connectivity
* Built with Cocos2d framework for 2D games
The goal is to collect as many bubbles as possible, containing cakes (1 point), birds (2 points), and champagne bottles (3 points). Hitting a bubble that contains a monster causes the fish to rollover dead, and then continue swimming, having lost one of his three lives. The game ends when all three lives have been spent. The undersea environment is clear blue with shafts of light from the surface illuminating the depths, which contain coral, sunken galleons, and swirling bubbles.
"Funky Fish is a side-scroller that really gives a sense of the fish moving through water," stated Developer Johan Axelsson. "It's easy to play, but difficult to master."
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
* iOS 3.1.3 or later (iOS 4 tested)
* 7 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Funky Fish 1.0, which has a 60 second playing limit, is free and available worldwide through the App Store in the Games category. The Full version of Funky Fish 1.0 is $0.99 (USD), and is available as an in-app purchase.
Based in Mariehamn, Finland, the AX apps team is an independent software developer Johan Axelsson. With a focus on iOS devices, their mission is to create fun and addicting games. Funky Fish was produced in cooperation with BWE Games.
