Virginia based glimmerWave software today announces Beam Wars 1.0, a free game for the Phone and iPod touch that changes the rules of board games forever. Red and blue beams sizzle across the board, bouncing from mirrors and exploding from star prisms. Control the Beams, both your Beam and that of your opponent, to strengthen your army and weaken your foe. Beam Wars can be configured for Human vs Human, Human vs Robot and Robot vs Robot game play modes.
Charlottesville, Virginia - glimmerWave software today is proud to announce the release and immediate availability of Beam Wars, a dramatic free board game for the iPhone and iPod touch that brings the board itself to life. No longer does game play depend only upon the positions of the pieces. Players must control and contend with Blue and Red beams of light that leap from square to square revealing strategy and exposing weakness.
As a colored beam crosses a square it strengthens pieces of the same color and weakens those of the opposing color. Shifting or rotating a piece in one section of the board can disturb the network of beams and can dramatically alter game play everywhere.
"Beam Wars takes board games in a truly new direction" says Patrick Keith-Hynes, CTO and founder of glimmerWave software. "A move anywhere on the board instantly affects game play everywhere. We have added many layers of interest and complexity to the traditional board game." The red and blue light beams instantly combine onscreen as the player moves mirrors, splitters and prisms about, creating startlingly beautiful and sometimes deadly patterns of light.
Beam Wars can be configured for Human vs Human, Human vs Robot and Robot vs Robot game play modes. Selecting Robot vs Robot game play with robot speed set to fast creates a dazzling light show as the Robot armies use their pieces and their beams to do battle. At any point the player can pause the action to move pieces manually or use the Robot to guide game play.
Although Beam Wars supports all models of the iPhone and iPod touch the graphics are particularly beautiful on a Retina Display. Beam Wars comes free with the Classic setup configuration. A paid upgrade of $0.99 enables the player to select the alternate Corners setup configuration and also removes all ad banners.
Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
* Required iOS 3.0 or later (iOS 4.0 Tested)
* 7.9 MB
Pricing and Availability:
Beam Wars v1.0 is available Free exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.

* Sonic Slug Bricks - Sound driven Brick breaker with furious arcade action
