Indie Game News was set up to give indie game developers a single place to talk about their projects, tell everyone about major new releases / updates / other information of interest, and maybe talk about what goes on behind the scenes at an indie game developer.  Many game designers already do this on their own personal blogs; however the idea of a resource for many developers to do this in a single location didn't seem to exist.  Though there are certainly many other indie game sites, this seemed to be a niche that wasn't being filled by anyone else.

So, the mission of Indie Game News is simple - to recruit as many indie game developers as possible, and let them post whatever they think game players will be interested in.  The increasing trend of individuals or small teams publishing their own games reminds me of the early days of the computer game, and results in a wider range of games for the public to play - not only in terms of quantity, because indie developers are often willing to pursue an idea that may not be viable for a large commercial company.  This site will also be a platform for developers to advertisie their games, of course - many people are earning a living (or trying to) from creating games these days, so the more publicity the better.  (I'd like to make back the cost of the domain name registration through AdSense earnings, but that doesn't seem likely to happen!)   At any rate, supporting the thriving indie game business is the most important thing here.

In case you're wondering just what I mean by "Indie Games", basically I'm talking about any game (for any system) that's produced by an individual / team not affiliated with one of the major software houses, and sold for a fee.  If the game is not charged for it's freeware not indie - freeware has its own important place in the gaming world, of course, but this particular blog is dedicated exclusively to indie games. that are being sold.  I hope you find what's posted here valuable.  We plan to cover many different genres and platforms, so hopefully you'll find something of interest whatever system you play games on.

If you're an indie game publisher and would like to be an author on this site, of you don't have time to be an author but have some news our readers would be interested in, please email me.
