MidBoss Patch 1.2 Adds Inventory Improvements, Customization Options and More

ST. LOUIS – Nov. 27, 2017 – MidBoss, the traditional roguelike with possession mechanics from Kitsune Games, has been updated with a major patch introducing many quality of life changes such as inventory management improvements, game customization options and more.

A host of improvements to the inventory system in version 1.2 enable the imp to expand its inventory with additional slots, stack potions and tomes, or salvage items into scrap to sell later. An item shortcut bar keeps the most important tomes and potions right at the imp’s fingertips. The interface now allows the imp to favorite items, preventing accidental scrapping or sales, and items can be blessed or identified quickly and easily.

Additional game modes include 1UP Mode, which gives players several lives to beat the game with, and Narrative Mode, which offers inifinite respawns and permanent buffs to make the game easier for those who simply want to see all MidBoss has to offer. New hazard boosts for New Game+ and game length options round out the expansion of gameplay types, offering ample ways to play for all levels of desired challenge.

“This patch brings a lot of changes players have been asking for since MidBoss’ release,” said Emma “Eniko” Maassen, founder, Kitsune Games. “We’ve added things dedicated roguelike fans have been asking for, like potion throwing, while improving the overall experience so that even those less familiar with traditional roguelikes can get into the genre.”

Patch 1.2 also introduces the long-awaited potion throwing system, allowing the imp to test unidentified potions on others instead of risking its own life. The legendary Alchemist’s Manual grants a splash effect for thrown potions to whoever wields it.

Other additions include new monster abilities and the enhancement of some weapons to inflict status effects like burning and poison. Fast travel allows the imp to backtrack more easily. Faster combat animation options allow the imp to progress more swiftly. Last but not least, a mysterious floppy disk item now grants access to MidOS.

MidBoss is a turn-based, strategic roguelike about a lowly imp’s quest to become the final boss of a dungeon. The imp must use its power to possess other creatures and master their abilities. Only by delving down into the depths of the dungeon and climbing the ladder of power can the imp rise above the meanies that make its life miserable.

MidBoss is available for Windows, Mac and Linux via SteamHumble Store and for $14.99 USD.

Children’s charity, War Child UK, has joined forces with some of the biggest games in the world for War Child’s Armistice – the award-winning fundraising campaign, which encourages peaceful gameplay in support of children affected by conflict.

Launching today (9 November) and running throughout the festive season, War Child’s Armistice offers players a mixture of thrilling in-game events, peaceful playthrough options, exclusive downloadable content (DLC), and timed exclusive purchasable in-game items, all in aid of War Child UK.

The campaign, which first launched in 2016, is supported once again by BlackMill Games &, Positech Games and joined for the first time by, Big Huge Games, Flaregames, 11 bit Studios, Focus Home Interactive,  XSplit and Extra Credits, with more exciting partners to be announced soon.

War Child’s Armistice aims to build on last year’s success, where over a million gamers engaged in the campaign, in an effort to create a global movement that inspires the gaming community to take action and raise vital funds for children whose lives have been torn apart by war.

Wayne Emanuel, Gaming Development Manager at War Child, says:  “We are thrilled to be working with some amazing studios for a second year and are really excited to be uniting new developers across mobile and console* in what has now become an annual fundraiser for War Child UK.

“Together, we want to give players access to new content in their favorite games and for them to join us in raising vital funds and awareness of some of the challenges faced by the world’s most disadvantaged children.

“All the money raised will help us reach even more children like Malek affected by conflict, rebuild their shattered societies and foster a more peaceful future.

Speaking about the campaign, Jos Hoebe from Blackmill Games and Verdun Co-Founder says: “We hope our two minute silence Armistice event will lead people to reflect on the First World War and how it has had lasting consequences for adults and children long after the fighting stopped, as all wars do. War Child is doing great work to raise awareness of the long term effects of war and to help children affected by war, and we are glad to support them.”

Tim Train, Chief Executive at Big Huge Games, says: “We are deeply thankful for War Child’s commitment to help the most vulnerable children living in war-torn countries. Big Huge Games is proud to support the Armistice initiative, and we are happy to give DomiNations players the opportunity to help fund these critical programs.”

Last year War Child’s Armistice raised over £100,000 in just eight weeks, making it one of the most successful campaigns in War Child’s history.

War Child UK, together with its partners, work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and Latin America providing protection, education and standing up for the rights of children caught up in conflict.

For more information about Armistice and the gaming studios that are participating, visit or follow @WarChild_Gaming on Twitter.

To kickstart the campaign, the ‘Armistice Steam Sale’ of best-selling titles that promote or have non-violent playthrough options will be available to purchase until 13 November on PC Games platform, Steam. The sale includes Styx: Shards of Darkness, Styx: Master of Shadows, This War of Mine, Democracy 3 and Verdun, all in support of children affected by conflict. Up to 100% of the proceeds will be donated to War Child UK.

Other highlights include, a ‘Two Minute Silence’ by BlackMill Games & M2H in their WW1 game, Verdun on 11th November, giving players the opportunity to take part in a ceasefire to mark their respect for the millions of people who have been impacted by war.

Verdun will also reactivate their 'Christmas Truce' downloadable content (DLC), which raised over £17,000 last year, for a limited time in December. Players will be able to purchase the re-enactment of the famous 1914 Christmas Day Truce, which allows them to lay down their virtual weapons and pickup snowballs, play football matches and send post cards to their loved ones.’s global phenomenon, World of Tanks will launch their popular peace emblems, a purchasable cosmetic item that players can brandish to show their support for Armistice. More than 22,000 gamers downloaded the emblems last year, raising a total of £68,000.

For the first time, Armistice will also be available for mobile gamers as Big Huge Games will also hold a ‘One Minute Silence’ at 11am CET on 11th November in their popular game, DomiNationsand give players the opportunity to purchase a 'Peace Bundle' to raise money for War Child. The bundle will include a number of non-violent in-game items, including 'Peace Treaties' - a consumable that gives players immunity from attack for 24 hours.

War Child is striving for a world where children’s lives are no longer torn apart by war.

We protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children caught up in conflict. We aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out, and stay to support them through their recovery - helping to keep them safe, give them an education, and equip them with skills for the future.

We understand children’s needs, respect their rights, and put them at the centre of the solution - from supporting Syrian children to access education, to reintegrating child soldiers in the Central African Republic and promoting justice for young people in detention in Afghanistan. Together with our partners we work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and Latin America.

We also work with children and young people to change systems and practices that affect them – campaigning on the root causes of conflict and demanding that children are at the centre of humanitarian response.

HyperParasite Prototype Out Now on for Free

8th November, 2017, For Immediate Release – A preliminary build of Troglobytes Games’ upcoming frantic, rogue-lite SHMUP is now available for free.

Letting players operate as a body-snatching organism in a dystopian rendition of the 1980s, the action-packed prototype offers access to –

Downtown, a fully-playable level that randomly differs in layout with every play-through.

Eight Playable Characters to Body-Snatch. Wield bats, bottles, rifles and explosives as you wage all-out war against martial law.

Unlockable Levels, Secrets & Future Add-ons. Currently inclusive of one hidden level and multiple items to discover.

Hi-Res Cover Artwork & an Original Synth-wave Soundtrack. Featuring Guerilla and Space Marine by Mr. Reeves.

Despite not being representative of the complete HyperParasite experience, the prototype’s purpose is that of encouraging player involvement in the game’s ongoing production process.

‘The prototype will progressively be updated with playable characters, collectibles and an assortment of game-play features that we as a team will be mulling over henceforth,’ states Lead Developer Luciano Iurino, addressing retro-SHMUP enthusiasts and game developers alike.

‘We’ll naturally need your feedback more than ever during this period; being avid users of the platform ourselves, is the perfect means to provide you with early access.’

Not ruling out the possibility of Steam Early Access preceding the game’s full release next year, the team prefers to consider the same only once HyperParasite’s more advanced game-play features are implemented in their entirety.

Following multiple event appearances through the course of this year, the game’s core mechanics continue to be worked upon as focus shifts towards implementing local co-operative game-play support.

‘We intend for HyperParasite as a SHMUP to be played with friends, and trust that co-op will only enhance the current prototype experience,’ affirms Iurino.

Graphical assets are also being reworked, with major character design updates expected over the forthcoming weeks.

Those wishing to download the HyperParasite prototype and partake in its going development, are encouraged to leave the development team with regular feedback and/or queries on its, Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram pages.

STAR TRADERS: FRONTIERS – heading to Steam Early Access next Tuesday, 14th November 2017

First there was the Exodus – when survivors of a great war piled into their hive ships and left the Galactic Core behind in search of a new home in the stars. Scattered worlds were claimed on the fringe of the galaxy. Each pocket of survivors held on to an isolated set of worlds while trying to rebuild under the great law of Shalun. Political rivalries have been rekindled, blood has been shed in age-old feuds, and the fires of war have been stoked. Announcing Sling Ming, a puzzle adventure with a princess on a leash

Put on your helmet, princess, you’re in for the ride of your life! Hook up to the Oxylane, a transit system that lets you fly through the air, swing around corners and defy gravity. Use it to recover the keys to the mysterious door beneath the castle. You must stop the never-ending earthquakes!

Good Night Brave Warrior is proud to announce its first game Sling Ming, a 2D action puzzle adventure. The game is coming to Steam (Win and Mac), iOS, Android and an unannounced platform in 2018.

About the Game
Back in the days, before Ming was born, the air was so polluted it was harmful to breathe. People hooked up to the Oxylane via elastic tubes to get fresh air. Over time it evolved into a standardized way of transportation. The daily commute to the coal mines and oil refineries would have been impossible without the Oxylane!

That all changed with the revolution and the Big Cleanup. But with the king missing and the kingdom plagued by earthquakes, are old sins really dead or just buried and forgotten?

Game Features
  • Plan your path by arranging the Oxylane nodes, then sling Ming between them
  • Rearrange and revisit nodes to solve puzzles
  • Mix of action and puzzles that rely on physics, timing or logic
  • Captivating story that unveils as you progress
  • Beautiful worlds, amazing music and a grand adventure!

Ciel Fledge - Raise a Virtual Daughter! - Kickstarter

Indonesian indie dev Studio Namaapa has come up with a novel concept for their game - you have a 10-year span to raise your daughter, and just like in real life, every decision matters!

With 2 young daughters of my own I am intrigued by how this concept will play out, and if you want to see for yourself there's already a demo available on Itch and GameJolt.

Here's the official blur

Ciel Fledge is a raising simulation game where the objective is to raise your adopted daughter in the span of 10 years. During those 10 years she will grow into an adult, under your care and guidance. How you decide to parent her is up to you. Every decision matters.

If you are familiar with raising sim game classics such as 'Princess Maker 2' and the more recent 'Long Live The Queen' you will feel right at home with this game.

For those who are new to the raising sim genre, you can compare the game to the popular 'The Sims' series, except in Ciel Fledge, you are managing and raising one person, your adopted daughter.

If you like the sound of this game then please check out the Kickstarter Campaign.
