Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle - Quest for Yrolg, Starship Quasar, Larry Lotter

Indie developers Crystal Shard have started a Greenlight campaign to get three of their adventure games published there: Starship Quasar, Larry Lotter, and Quest for Yrolg. For anyone who’s played these before, these are the ‘deluxe’ versions with updated and higher-resolution graphics, new soundtrack, and professional voice acting. Check out the Steam Greenlight page.

(As if it wasn't enough to support these games coming out in deluxe form, it's hoped that the revenue from this bundle once on sale will be enough to fund making a deluxe edition of the already excellent "A Tale of Two Kingdoms".  This and their other free games are available from the Crystal Shard Website.)

Tales of the Elements in an RPG and Hip Hop Concept Album

Phoenix, Arizona - October 7, 2016 - Random Beats Music is excited to announce Tales of the Elements, the ambitious tenth album by hip hop/trip hop artist Last BeNeVoLeNcE telling a tale full of fantasy, adventure, love, and heroism while presenting the history of hip hop in the likeness of a classic Japanese role-playing game. Entirely produced and written by Last BeNeVoLeNcE, Tales of the Elements features cleverly crafted story-driven lyricism on top of heavy '90s-inspired drum patterns with exotic jazz samples alongside original compositions of his own. Tales of the Elements FC (First Chapter) is available today, with the second chapter to follow before the end of 2016:

What makes Tales of the Elements special is that in addition to being a hip hop album, it's also an action RPG for PC developed solely by Last BeNeVoLeNcE and based entirely on the album's story. Purchasing the album will allow listeners to experience the narrative as players as well.

"I really love hip hop, but I also love gaming, especially when it comes to JRPGs," notes Last BeNeVoLeNcE. "Some may know how the artist Common told the story of hip hop from his perspective in the classic 'I Used To Love H.E.R' track, so I consider Tales of the Elements my own way of presenting hip hop culture from my perspective."

Last BeNeVoLeNcE takes his inspiration from hip hops acts such as Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician, A Tribe Called Quest, Nujabes, Common, and Simple Citizens as well as classic JRPGs including Chrono TriggerSeiken Densetsu 3Tales of Phantasia, and Final Fantasy VII.Tales of the Elements' title an obvious nod to the Tales videogame series, but the elements portion also refers to the four elements of hip hop: B-Boys, DJs, MCs, and graffiti art.

Every classic RPG needs its cast of heroes, and Tales of the Elements is no exception. Expect guest appearances from Mega Ran and Kharisma with mastering and narration by K-Murdock.

Help Duke achieve his goal in the first installment of Venture Moon Industries' Duke Grabowski saga: Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler, available now on Steam (PC/Mac)!

Retro point-and-click adventure game "The Beard in the Mirror" hits Steam Oct. 25!

"Don't you remember me? After all we've been through..."

What do you want to be when you grow up? Paul thought his life would be set after college, but at 22 he's toiling away in a job he doesn't like and coming home to an empty apartment every night. He doesn't know who he is, where he's going, or how he fits into his world.

But then on one dark and stormy night, a mysterious woman appears to him, and everything changes...

"A story of modern adult malaise-meets-childlike fantasy."
Jillian Werner, GameZebo

The Beard in the Mirror is a throwback to when adventure games came in giant cardboard boxes and if you didn't have the hintbook, that was it; you were stuck on that puzzle for the rest of your life. It's a labor of love from a husband-and-wife team from two different worlds (she's a Sierra fangirl, and he's a LucasArts diehard) who have been working on it together since before they even started dating.

KEY FEATURES
  • A classic point-and-click adventure for the modern age!
  • Sincere yet lighthearted story with magic, danger, romance, and adventure
  • Death lurking around every corner! (Although you'll never lose any progress.)
  • Retro points system to help you track your progress, and see if you've missed any secrets...
  • Just like the games you used to play on your dad's weird friend's computer
  • From the developers of Cat President: A More Purrfect Union and A STRANGER COMES CALLING
PICK UP your mouse and USE it on Steam, because The Beard in the Mirror is coming out on October 25th.

Fig Now Collecting Funds for Fig Game Shares--Psychonauts 2, Anyone Can Invest

Fig, the only crowdfunding platform dedicated to video games, today began collection for investment in its Fig Game Shares -- PSY2. With this historic first campaign, Fig is the only platform where individuals can buy shares in a publisher that offer a return based on the financial performance of their favorite games. Backers who previously registered interest during the Psychonauts 2 campaign on fig.co can now convert their reservation into investment. Fig has contacted all backers with simple instructions, and new investors may follow fig.co/PSY2/gameshares for more information.

The Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding campaign reached more than $3.8M from 24,000 fans pledging their support for the highly anticipated sequel, approximately half in the form of rewards pledges and half in the form of reservations for Fig Game Shares -- PSY2, and Fig is now able to collect funds from non-accredited investors for the Fig Game Shares. The SEC qualification also paves the way for Fig to start registering Fig Game Shares for other campaigns on Fig. The SEC qualification marks a turning point for the games industry and the future of crowdfunding by allowing an investment in Fig, as publisher, which will offer a return based on the financial performance of a completed project.

Fig Game Shares are the only investment of its type to pass through the SEC process under Title IV of the JOBS Act, making them a brand new type of security - allowing anyone, accredited and non-accredited investors alike, to invest in Fig and potentially benefit from the success of a specific project.

Please read Justin’s thoughts on the SEC qualification on the Fig blog. To learn more about the Fig crowdfunding platform and its mission, please visit fig.co.

Action puzzle game CASTLES launching today on Xbox One digital

Published by BadLand Games, Castle’s story-driven puzzle action, bright colorful graphics, and catchy soundtrack are sure to delight puzzle fans in the mood for some high-stakes competition.

BACKSTORY:

One evening, King Harold was reading a travel magazine about the “Wonders of the World” and marveled at how various monuments brought glory to different kingdoms. With elections coming up, King Harold needed something big to keep the throne. Inspired by the magazine’s monuments, he summoned the kingdom’s best builders to construct the tallest tower anyone has ever seen, and it’s your job to control them!

THE GAME:

In Story Mode, you’ll take on 50 levels to try and build King Harold’s tower. Blocks made of different materials and labeled with a variety of construction tools will fall onto a 5x5 grid. Push and match three or more blocks of the same material or tools to complete level goals. Don’t take too long or the blocks will fill up and stop the work to a halt! Finally, you’ll also have to face off against tough weather conditions and five bosses sent by jealous rival King Edmund ...

With three modes to choose from, the building action doesn’t stop there:

*   STORY: Follow a 50-level story, defeat King Edmund, and make King Harold proud.

*   SURVIVAL: Build the tallest tower and try to stay alive!

*   VERSUS: Compete against a friend to build the tallest tower. Ambush your opponent by sending more blocks their way.

DEVELOPER QUOTE:

Jonathan Rivas, CEO (WhootGames):
“Castles offers puzzle fans a neat twist on matching gameplay. Colour-matching will only clear the board slightly. You also need to be mindful of each level’s requirements to make some actual progress. However, the game goes well beyond the single-player campaign: You can play through Story Mode with a friend in local or online co-op, and competition fiends can always let off some steam in Versus Mode!”

KEY FEATURES:

*   Play alone or with a friend.
*   Choose from 4 different characters.
*   Fight incredible battles against giant enemies that will try to destroy your tower!
*   Experience more than 50 levels of gameplay in story mode.
*   Face game-changing inclement weather (rain, fog, snow, wind, day and night cycles).
*   Enjoy 3 game modes: Story, Survival, and Versus.
*   Unlock buildings and the appearance of your characters.
*   Watch the village grow and thrive as you climb the tower levels!

PRICING & AVAILABILITY:

Castles is now available digitally on Xbox One for $4.99 in North America, £3.99 in the U.K and €4.99 in Europe.
