Sci-Fi Puzzler Nebulous Launches on PS4, PC, Mac, Oculus Rift

SAN DIEGO - August 30 - Nebulous, a sci-fi puzzler from Namazu Studios where players guide an astronaut trapped in space, launches today on PlayStation 4, Mac and PC with optional Oculus Rift compatibility. PlayStation 4 owners can try Nebulous before buying it via a demo on the PlayStation Store.

Players guide Astronaut Dash Johnson through massive maze-like levels familiar to anyone who has played the board game Mouse Trap or knows the art of Rube Goldberg.

The helpless Johnson begins every stage in a fixed position. To help the interplanetary explorer through each puzzle, players position objects like conveyor belts, gravity altering devices and space rocks before dropping Johnson into the level, letting gravity take its course and hoping the items they placed can help guide him to the exit.

Hilarity is mixed in with brain-teasing puzzles; Johnson remarks about his own misfortunes and says cutting player-directed insults as he floats through a gauntlet of perplexing trials with intricate solutions.

Nebulous was designed with VR in mind. With Oculus Rift, and later this year PlayStation VR, players can interact hands-free with the world by simply fixing their gaze at in-game objects and turning their head to reposition them.

The game is available on Steam worldwide and PlayStation Network in North America for $14.99 with full English voiceover and subtitles. Nebulous also features music from Lauren Bousfield of the experimental electronica group Nero's Day at Disneyland.

"Nebulous' VR support lets players solve challenges in an intuitive, natural way, but the game's essence is still a blast without a cutting-edge control scheme," said Keith Hudnall, technical director, Namazu Studios, "If you want an experience that makes you think but also make you laugh along the way, you definitely need to playNebulous."

Dark City-inspired point-and-click adventure ISOLAND arrives on iOS Sept. 8th

Set on an isolated island, ISOLAND blends old-school point-and-click gameplay with perfectly-tuned touch controls. Drawing inspiration from Dark City’s “Shell Beach,” the game’s varied environments are made of crooked lines, off-kilter perspectives, and a muted color palette that will dare you to solve every logic puzzle you can find. On your quest for the truth, you’ll also deal with characters who seem stuck in time: a sea captain with a weak memory, a boy pretending to be an astronaut, an easily-bribed priest...

Isoland is set to launch Thursday, Sept. 8th.

Appearing deceptively peaceful to the casual passerby, a mysterious island exists in the far reaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The inhabitants know not how they got there or why they stay; all they’re sure of is that the place in which they are trapped is called Isoland.

You are a researcher who has received a letter from a friend imploring you to help with an investigation. You travel to the island, seeking to unravel its secrets -- but after you arrive, you realize all too late that you, too, are now trapped. Beware of being lulled into complacency by the beauty of the island: Use your wits to avoid being tricked, and unravel the logic behind complex puzzles. Only then will the secrets of Isoland be revealed.

*   Return to the glory days of atmospheric point-and-click adventure games.
*   Challenge yourself with unique (and often quite difficult) in-game puzzles.
*   Enjoy a deep storyline with the gameplay to match.
*   Experience the intricate art style and soundscape that frame the mystery of the island.
*   Play in your own language: Isoland supports English, Dutch, Chinese (Simple), Chinese (Traditional), French, Spanish, Japanese, and the occasional alien dialect :)

Isoland will be available on iOS September 8th for for $0.99. Tips are free after watching a short ad; solutions are the only type of in-app purchase, and priced at $0.99 each.

Japanese Reviews
Here’s what some reviewers of the Japanese edition had to say about Moékuri!

tona, 2015/08/25
A Masterpiece. 'Moe SRPG' is a genre you see from commercial game companies often enough, but I feel like this surpasses them ... there's a lot of fun to be had in coming up with your own teams and strategies, and collecting all the creatures.

shichimentai, 2015/09/05
… All the characters are fully voiced outside of the story scenes, which really helps gives them all a lot of personality. For anyone who enjoys characterization stuff like that, it really enhances the fun of collecting new creatures …

hirmaru, 2016/03/26
Incredible Variety in Characters and Strategies. All the characters and the creatures in combat are just adorable. It's worth it just to look at all the art. Despite the huge number of creatures, they all have different strengths and weaknesses, and there's not one that doesn't feel unique.

With a successful Kickstarter and concurrent Steam Greenlight campaign, Culture Select aims to release Moekuri in Q4 2016 for Windows PC. The Kickstarter page is located, and the Greenlight page is here:

First Look – “Bear With Me”

Bear With Me is an interesting game, it’s a noir detective game starring a 10 year-old girl and her retired partner, Ted.E.Bear.   This is an interesting blend of styles and promises to produce some laughs amidst the serious plot of the mysterious “Red Man” and a serious of fires in Paper City.

The visuals are lovely (even given that with my lousy PC I’ve been playing on lowest quality), the music fits nicely and the ambient sound effects are good.  The voice acting is variable so far, as is the writing – some of the intonation and pausing is a bit off, and some of the jokes don’t really work – but that’s not to say that it’s bad overall, just inconsistent.   The way the text is displayed with a border quickly in and out is a little distracting.  The dialogues are quite wordy and I was itching to actually start playing the game quite a while before the long opening exposition was out of the way.  Early puzzles were easy, expecting them to get harder soon.   The plot is interesting, as are the characters, and the game seems so far to have bundles of atmosphere and a good dollop of charm, that hopefully will easily override the niggling issues I’ve mentioned.

Amber and Ted.E.Bear.  They have a troubled past, but can they save the city's future?

Strategy Simulation Game, Agenda, Coming to PC, Mac, Linux September 21

ZAGREB, Croatia - August 24, 2016 - Agenda, a strategy simulation from Exordium Games where players control an evil organization seeking world domination, will come to Windows, Mac, and Linux on Sept. 21st, 2016.

Players will direct covert operations to increase their control over countries' economies, political parties, militaries, science institutions and media outlets. Operations will entail everything from low key kickbacks to military leaders to the brazen assassination of political rivals.

By earning influence in each country, players unlock powerful new abilities and gain access to five different agency super weapons. These supply benefits such as running multiple operations at once or reducing the shadowy enterprise's exposure.

In order to secretly control the world's governments, the organization must avoid exposure by successfully completing its undercover operations and exerting its influence over the media. Once exposed, the game is over. Exposure will rise gradually over time, but incidents like failed operations or rebellions can trigger spikes of unrest and awareness.

Agenda will be available on Steam for $9.99 in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese-Brazil, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Swedish, Danish, Dutch and Japanese.

"Unlike most games, the goal of Agenda isn't to save the world through noble deeds - it's world domination through devious tactics," said Andrej Kovacevic, game director, Exordium Games. "Only by utilizing military might, making shady political deals and manipulating the global economies and media will players be able to rule the world."

About Exordium Games

Creative Team Behind Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood Launch Armikrog on Consoles

LAKE FOREST, Calif. – Aug. 23, 2016: Independent game developer PencilTest Studios in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil today announced the release of Armikrog for the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U™ system, Xbox One via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system for $9.99, £7.99 and €9.99.
“When we initially funded our game through Kickstarter there was demand for a Wii U version and it totally made sense from a design standpoint,” said Pencil Test Studios co-founder Mike Dietz. “Armikrog was created using classic sculpting, set building and clay and puppet fabrication techniques and it truly was a labor of love.  After the release on PC we were able to turn our attention to the console versions of the game and we are incredibly happy to announce that console gamers can now play our creation on the console platform of their choice!”

In Armikrog players follow the adventures of space explorer Tommynaut and his pal Beak-Beak (a blind talking dog) as they crash land on an alien planet and get trapped in a mysterious fortress called Armikrog.  To help them escape players have to guide the pair through a variety of precarious situations in gorgeously hand crafted environments packed with puzzles and a slew of odd inhabitants.  Voiceover talent includes well-known actors Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Rob Paulsen (Pinky and the Brain) and Michael J. Nelson (Mystery Science Theater 3000).
"Armikrog is a great stop-motion experience that can now be enjoyed on the consoles," said Versus Evil General Manager Steve Escalante. "A handcrafted, one-of-a-kind video game, Armikrog appeals to gamers of all ages and it has been amazing seeing this game come to life.  Its transition to the major consoles is a treat and we are very excited to launch a game on all three consoles!”, he added.
