BOMB, who let the dogfight

What happens when you mix Crimson Skies' fast-paced aerial combat with the humor and stylings of animated classics like TaleSpin and Porco Rosso? You get La Moustache Studio's game, "BOMB: who let the dogfight?". The game combines the pleasures of arcade and simulation, easy to handle for everyone; it also has very convincing flight dynamics. Up to 16 players can compete in multi-player modes.

For its official release, BOMB will be available on Steam at a discounted rate of € 11.99 (-20%).

Vortex - local multiplayer bullet hell

"Vortex is a retro styled physics driven local multiplayer top down shooter where the goal is to fly around in neat looking spaceships and kill your opponents by making their lives miserable."

This game is local multiplayer only with split-screen graphics, so bear that in mind before you buy the game.  I'm sure there are still people out there who enjoy the local multiplayer experience! - but be aware that currently there is no single-player or online multiplayer mode.  Check it out on Steam.

Lifeless Planet Premier Edition Out Now on PC/Mac

The Premier Edition of the atmospheric sci-fi adventure Lifeless Planet is now available on PC and Mac. This remastered edition brings new content and improved graphics to the desktop versions of the game. The Premier Edition is a free update to existing owners of Lifeless Planet through Steam, Humble and other platforms.

The Premier Edition includes new original music from acclaimed Lifeless Planet composer Rich Douglass. In addition, there's also a number of visual upgrades throughout, most notably the addition of normal-mapped terrains. The game also contains previously unreleased content in the form of new audio and text logs. The Premier Edition includes additional new Russian language voice acting, adding further richness to the already immersive experience.

While seeking life on a distant planet, an astronaut discovers an abandoned Russian town. He suspects his mission is a hoax until a mysterious young woman saves him from a strange and deadly phenomenon...

Lifeless Planet is a third-person action-adventure that features an old-school sci-fi story and spectacular environments in the spirit of classic action-adventures.

After a hard landing on the planet, the astronaut discovers the planet that was reported to be rich with life is instead a barren wasteland. When he goes searching for his crew, he makes a more startling discovery: evidence that humans have already been to this planet years ago! When he comes upon a deserted Soviet-era Russian town, he struggles to make sense of his mission. Did his light-speed travel to the planet send him back in time? Or is this all some strange Cold War hoax?

Along the way, the astronaut meets a Russian woman, Aelita, who is somehow able to survive the hostile atmosphere of the planet. Through an unusual natural phenomenon, her skin causes the soil to glow green under her feet. The player must use these glowing tracks as a guide across the planet past treacherous and deadly threats. Is she leading him to safety... or an untimely death?

Lifeless Planet was inspired by Cold War era science fiction stories, posing questions about humankind's desire for space travel. What if you journeyed across the galaxy to another planet, only to find humans had already been there? What kind of person would sign up for a one-way mission, leaving behind planet Earth and everyone they've ever known and loved... to go in search of an Earth-like planet?

Equipped with a limited-use jet-pack and a mobile robotic arm, the player must use wits and skill to solve puzzles, unravel the mystery, and survive the Lifeless Planet!

  • Explore 20 unique and atmospheric environments on a vast and treacherous planet.
  • Follow a mysterious young woman as she guides you past dangerous terrain and deadly life-forms.
  • Investigate the startling discovery of an abandoned Russian town.
  • Experience an exciting and intriguing story through rich graphics and cinematic cut-scenes.

Lifeless Planet was created by David Board of Stage 2 Studios while he lived in Alaska. His inspiration for the game stems from a love of classic 1950’s and 60’s sci-fi movies and TV shows. Coupled with a love for video games (and frankly not much else to do during those long dark Alaskan winter nights!) he has turned this passion into something unique and original. Lifeless Planet was one of the first games to be successfully funded on Kickstarter. David also looked to the Kickstarter community to find talent for music, voice acting, testing and many other aspects of the project. Alaska-based programmer and game developer Jazon Burnell lead the effort to build the Premier Edition of Lifeless Planet.

Armello - PS4, PC Release Date, Two New Characters

MELBOURNE, VICTORIA - July 27, 2015 - League of Geeks has revealed two additional characters for their fantasy board game come to life, Armello, which will release on September 1, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac and Linux.

The final build of the game, including Zosha the female rat and Barnaby the male rabbit, will be playable for the first time at PAX Prime. PC gamers who can't wait until launch to play have up to July 31 to purchase the game on Steam Early Access, after which the title will not be available until the official release.

The second hero from the Rat Clan, Zosha, the Whisper, takes advantage of the cover of night and goes into Stealth every sunset. While hidden from sight Zosha can outmaneuver her competition, avoiding aggressive heroes while also sneaking up on those who least expect it. Her low body stat means she must be careful to pick the right battles, but her unusually strong fight makes her a tough competitor to defend against, especially when her opponent can't see her coming.

Barnaby, Screwloose, from the Rabbit Clan is an impressive tinkerer allowing him to swap items in and out of his inventory depending on what any given situation calls for, making him highly adaptable to multiple strategies. His self-made armor grants him a very high body stat allowing him to take several heavy blows from other characters, while a respectable fight score means he can also deliver tough strikes of his own.

Armello takes players to a vibrant magical world tinged with darkness and throws them into a struggle for power against other players and the mad lion king who is being slowly corrupted by a mysterious dark force called the Rot. After choosing a character from one of four animal clans, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, players fight for their chance to ascend the throne as the lion king terrorizes his subjects and sinks further into insanity.

There are no safe havens in the world of Armello. Gamers must watch out for the king's loyal guards, evil banes spawned by the Rot and other power-hungry characters as they move, fight and quest across the board to claim the crown and rule the land.

"The public have had access to the first four heroes of Armello for a while now, but these characters bring all new levels of complexity, variety and replayability to Armello's gameplay," said Trent Kusters, founder and director, League of Geeks. "Playing a game knowing that Zosha could be lurking on any tile at night or Barnaby is likely to have the perfect tool for every situation, are game changers. It's another way we're delivering on the simple depth all great board tabletop experiences possess."

The Early Access build of Armello is available for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam for $24.99 until July 31. After that date, gamers must wait until Armello's official release on September 1 to download the title.

More information about Armello can be found at:

Bitcoin Gaming Alternative HYPER Added to MMORPG Dragon Knights of Valeria - HYPER Roadmap Document Released

LOS ANGELES, July 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The HYPER project runs over 10 HYPER enabled game servers including CSGO, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rust, space strategy games, and much more. The official HYPER strategy and roadmap document was also recently released, and outlines what HYPER has achieved in its first year of existence, and where the project is heading.

Over a year old, HYPER is pleased to announce that it has been fully integrated into MMORPG Dragon Knights of Valeria. Anyone can now deposit and withdraw HYPER; trading it for other in-game resources as players build up their kingdom.

Dragon Knights of Valeria is a popular MMORPG game with over 500 players. Players can earn HYPER, GoldPieces and Dragon Points (DP) as they play the game which can then be traded for up to 7 different cryptocurrencies and withdrawn in-game. The creator, Anarchist of Crypto Database, is also responsible for curating a CC library that catalogs over 1,300 different coins and supplies information for each one.

As the admin Anarchist says about Dragon Knights of Valeria game play:

"Once inside the world of Dragon Knights of Valeria players can explore the map in search of new towns, fight monsters for rewards and DP, and do quests that also award DP for each part completed. Each town offers its own set of equipment, pets, quests, exchanges, gambling, banks, clans, and assorted other options.

Towns also offer a gateway into their very own Kingdom where they can build villages, purchase more land, gather resources such as wood and fish, upgrade their fishing and woodcutting levels to increase the amounts gained, and train their own army once they reach level 10. You can send your soldiers to attack other players kingdoms in the hopes of taking more land, gold, and DP from your opponent."

As well as HYPER, Dragon Knights of Valeria has also integrated online RPG gaming digital currency GoldPieces (GP) into the in-game free market trading platform. GP had no premine, and is a currency designed for online RPG gaming specifically.

HYPER and Goldpieces are the only currencies with this level of integration in Dragon Knights of Valeria, and HYPER remains the top sponsor of the innovative online MMORPG.
Dragon Knights of Valeria also has an in-game tip bot, where anyone can be tipped free HYPER and GP simply for playing, and contributing to the community in chat.
The Dragon Knights of Valeria Bitcointalk thread is where the latest game updates are posted:

Recently celebrating its first birthday, the HYPER project has also released the official HYPER roadmap and strategy document. The document outlines the unprecedented cryptocurrency gaming ecosystem HYPER has established in its first year of existence, and where the project is heading.

The HYPER development team states that the ultimate vision of HYPER is for:

"HYPER to be known and used by all serious gamers worldwide. HYPER is the ultimate disruptive gaming digital currency with hundreds of online games and servers that utilize HYPER as the in-game currency. HYPER has a diverse and unprecedented ecosystem, that provides many unique opportunities for gaming, trading and profit.

In some ways HYPER has already achieved a part of this vision. It is the most widely known gaming digital currency with the most extensive ecosystem. The next step is to have HYPER break into the multi-billion dollar industry of mainstream gaming. And of course to have a lot of fun while we are doing it."

HYPER currently runs over 10 game servers with full HYPER integration including CSGO, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rust, HYPER Wars Space Strategy, Hyperzanda, RPGs and much more.

Releasing the new HYPER Strategy and Roadmap document, and with HYPER integration in MMORPG Dragon Knights of Valeria - HYPER continues to cement its position as the leading gaming cryptocurrency.

Indies VS Gamers - Game Jam with PewDiePie, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye

From our friends at GameJolt:

Greetings from Game Jolt! Remember that game jam that we did with PewDiePie? It resulted in almost a thousand new indie games and over 1.5 million plays/downloads, plus tons of publicity for developers.

We're doing it again, but this time, PewDiePie is joined by his fellow Let's Players Markiplier and Jacksepticeye. We call it:

  • Developers will have 72 hours to make a game with a scoreboard in it.
  • Gamers will have a week to play and rate games. Everyone's invited to judge.
  • PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye will each play the 5 top-rated games on their channels!

We'll announce a winning game every day for 5 days. Every announcement will kick off a 24 hour competition among gamers for high scores, ending with the next day's announcement. The 10 highest scores in each game will be enshrined on the jam homepage!

The jam runs from July 17 to July 20. Judging ends on July 27. A theme will be announced at the start of the jam.

Details are on the Indies VS Gamers website:

Late Last Nite: A free retro point-and-click adventure

It's a #pointandclick adventure game; it's retro, and it's free.

Seriously, what's not to love?!  (Okay, apart from the misspelling of night... :-D)

Late Last Nite was created during the recent 14-day AdventureJam, and it was selected as one of three judge's picks when the competition ended. Version 1.2 represents our effort to cram all the content into the game that was initially sacrificed to meet the 14-day deadline.

Players will join our protagonist Morgan as she stumbles through a series of bizarre fantasy settings -- a mer-pirate lagoon, a junk food forest, and a steampunk vampire nightclub -- in search of three missing relics. Essentially, it's a surreal comedy that blurs the lines between reality and drunken fantasy.

Version 1.2 adds new characters, new puzzles, tons of new interactions, a remastered soundtrack, and improved animations.

Late Last Nite is available for free download (PC and Mac) at

Charlotte, still dreaming after two decades, and about to wake up with a (Kick) start!

Indie dev Robert Guiscard got in touch with me today and his story really resonated with me, since my own situation in developing Captain Disaster is quite similar.  Here's what he said:

"Charlotte's Dream, a love letter to classic adventure games. This is a game I started working on when I was only 12 years old, but I could never finish it. Now 20 years later, I am now an experienced game designer, and I'm committed to finishing it.

Charlotte's Dream will not only be a tribute to the classic point and click puzzle games of old, but it also seeks to overturn the problems of the genre. It also introduces modern game mechanics, such as a leveling system and a crafting system. So the game can best be described as part puzzle game, part role playing game."
