New indie RPG release - Asteria

What would you do to bring back the one you love?

He found his princess, his true love. And then he lost her to death. He did not give up. He fought the great dragon and won. Now the dragon must take him to Asteria, a place of magic, lore, and gods. With the right help, he hopes to restore the life of his true love.

Travel with Argo, our hero, and the great dragon Golagros. Defy gods, swim with mermaids, dance with ice elementals, and tame the sky, but beware of the Judges. They are watching.

This is a light-hearted RPG about a young man who goes to great lengths to restore the life of his true love. Think Princess Bride.

Bunny to the Moon!

Made over the course of 7 months using Unity 3D, Bunny to the Moon is a simple, fun and sometimes frustrating game about... well, trying to get bunny all the way up to the moon.  In the words of the devs, BitSerum:

Bunny to the Moon is a game of skill with a fun jumping/flying mechanic that's easy to learn, but not so easy to master.  The titular Bunny needs to fly through 4 different areas (underground, forest, sky and space), each offering different obstacles and changing the way you play the game in some way.  Your only aids are life upgrades found on various height scores. Once obtained these life upgrades stick with you permanently through subsequent play-throughs.

The game is free with no in-app purchases, and is not an endless runner. We're looking into porting to iOS in the near future.

Trailer:

You can get the Android version at the GooglePlay Store.

Foresight - Out Friday

Flank Attack? Blitzkrieg? What's your battle plan?
Set in a distant future, humanity has been decimated by a massive nuclear war.  Those that caused the war have long since fled Earth for the distant galaxies. As planet Earth slowly dies, the survivors eventually have to face up to the inevitable and go in search of a new habitable planet.

But as humanity ventures in to the unknown, dangers await and battles for survival will ensue. With those responsible for the nuclear war at large somewhere in the galaxy, will they be friend or foe, or have they become something even worse?  Do other dangers exit?

Foresight is a space-themed real-time strategy game that redefines the genre by focusing more on the strategy and less on the tactics. No need to build faster, bigger better ships - the game does that for you.  Instead focus on what strategy you can employ to counter that of your enemy and ultimately defeat them.

Features
  • Focuses on your military strategy skills and not your ability to build bigger, faster, more powerful ships.
  • Let the micro-artificial intelligence modules embedded in the game do all the boring stuff for you.
  • The greater your tactical skills, the greater your fleet.
  • Multiple worlds and galaxies to explore, each one requiring its own unique strategy.
  • Strategic ship deployment to ensure a balanced mix of offense and defence capabilities.
  • Play as one of three unique races – each one different to the other.
Foresight is available to download via PC digital download stores on Friday 28 November 2014, with an SRP of $24.99 / €22.99 / £19.99.  Look out for special launch promotions.

Star Catcher

This is a nice project brought to my attention by a member of the AGS community.  They have a modest funding target (and have just about passed the half-way mark) to fund another artist for this story-heavy point and click adventure game.  Star Catcher is also part of the Queen of Code competition to find and fund female game designers in England - a very worthy goal!

So here's the trailer.

Check out the crowd funding campaign at... no, not Kickstarter, not even IndieGoGo, but CrowdFunder.co.uk!

Viktor, a steampunk adventure

I really like the look of this one!

"Join a wild boar Viktor in his quest to become the Emperor of Austria-Hungary in this lovely hand drawn point-and-click adventure game."

Viktor is an impulsive, but a good-hearted boar whose recent job loss has pushed him over the edge. He decided it’s time to take matters into his own hands and become the ruler of the Austro-Hungarian Empire!

On his quest, he will engage in all sorts of adventures like an airship fight, meeting the love of his life in an anarchist basement, helping Tesla test a brand new incredible machine and lots of other crazy stuff that may or may not involve sex, drugs and classical music.

You can bag yourself  a copy of the game with a $10 pledge.

Check out the Kickstarter Page and the Demo.

Descendants

Descendants is a space MMORPG set in the last days of humanity, and is truly epic in scope.  Unfortunately I fear that its Kickstarter goal is also so huge, and the rewards perhaps comparatively unrewarding (for instance, until the $220 reward, all of the options give you less than a year's subscription - and will people really want to back a project and have to pay more afterwards?), that I struggle to see how it could succeed.  But, you never know, stranger things have happened, and if it starts to get some publicity...

Below is a long video explaining the game in a lot of detail.  The whole thing lasts 40 minutes so you'd have to be pretty interested to watch it all - the game's prologue lasts the first 7 and a half minutes.  It looks interesting and... well, epic.

Though I have my doubts about whether this particular Kickstarter campaign will work out, the game is clearly a labour of love, with a huge amount of work having gone into it already, and for that I really do hope the devs manage to succeed.  They're looking for $900K with 29 days to go... check out the Kickstarter Page for more info.
