‘Star Conflict’ Official Launch Date with the New Invasion Mode Confirmed for September 4th

The anticipated release of Star Conflict, including free access to the new ‘Invasion Mode’, is officially set for September 4th, and Star Gem, Inc and Gaijin Entertainment have announced a special sale running from now until launch day to help players stock up on supplies for the ‘Invasion’ pre-launch event, currently underway for closed beta testers. Starting today, players with closed beta access have a week to defend their home bases against scores of aliens to win prizes. With increased award-earning opportunities by getting in early and the special pre-launch sale, now is the best time to join the ranks of defenders. Players new to the fray can access the Invasion Mode Closed Beta by earning in-game achievements “Detachment of Prometheus” and “The Voyage of the Galaxy”.

After September 4th Star Conflict opens for all gamers - Invasion Mode is unlockable - and the ‘Invasion’ event continues for one more week, allowing all players to join the battle and defend their home bases against the alien onslaught.

Currently in Closed Beta, Invasion Mode features an underlying story in which an alien race that disappeared into another dimension of space and time has now returned to invade and conquer. Star Conflict players must team up in parties of four to explore the new ‘Open Space’ area and combine forces as they take on new quests and engage in PvP and PvE battles. These new activities provide new loot, which can also be used to craft unique armament options and protection for their spaceships.

Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler!


Right, now that I've got your attention...

Shiver me timbers, it's a new piratey point and click adventure game project by Bill Tiller and the crew at Venture Moon Industries, so it is me hearties.  What started as a demo spoofing Guybruish Threepwood's 3 tasks to prove himself pirate material, using Unity 3D and the Adventure Creator Toolkit (see my interview with its creator, Chris Burton) has kept growing to become a game with its own identity.

Meet Duke Grabowski.
Duke is a massive, brutish pirate who desperately wants to be an suave & sophisticated swashbuckler. He has a good heart, and he needs your help. He has to complete three tasks to convince his crew he can become captain.

He usually solves his problems by punching. He wants to change, but he doesn't know how.

Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler! is an exciting 2.5D adventure game for PC/Mac/Linux/OUYA, in the style of LucasArts and Autumn Moon Entertainment. Projected release date is October 2015.  

It's currently got a Kickstarter Campaign running which is doing rather well so far.  But it could use more help to reach its initial funding goal and further stretch goals...

Crowd-Funded Musical Puzzler Sentris™ Launches in Early Access

The Banner Saga Takes Geekie Award® in Indie Game Category

Austin-based independent developer, Stoic, took home another award on Sunday night with its smash hit PC video game The Banner Saga winning the Geekie Award® for the Indie Video Games category. Epoch - new teaser trailer

This is giving more and more a "The Dig" vibe (which can only be a good thing!).  Short teaser trailer below, I probably (/possibly) won't be voicing anyone in the game but I did voice 3 words (count 'em!) in this trailer - and my AGS buddy Tabata voiced the female character.  Her attempt at a Brummie accent when she was going to help me out with a characeter for Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots still cracks me up (she's not British and had no idea what a Brummie accent sounds like, but she still gave it a go!!). :-)

Habitat Gets Major Feature Updates and also Announces Steam Workshop Support

Indie developer, 4gency, today announced several new updates to Habitat: A Thousand Generations In Orbit. The v0.20 update with a new “HAL” Management System, Combinations, and Advanced Construction Mode is now live and currently available through Steam’s Early Access program. 4gency also announced that they will be supporting Steam Workshop which means that players will be able to build their own custom ‘junk’ for use in-game in the future.

About “HAL” – The Habitat Management Interface
  • HAL is the system that allows players to tactically manage their creations.
  • Health, resource production and the new combination system, and management of key habitat properties like rocket throttle settings, fuel usage, and weapon tuning are all presented in a simple and clean way.  Time is even stopped so that players are given a chance to learn, think and strategize.
  • More features will be rolled out in the future including features like citizen and crisis management, upgrading parts, re-wiring of resources, and engineer management.

About Combinations
  • Accessed in HAL, a new combination system has been added that unlocks certain bonuses for particular configurations of different components.
  • In this update players can expect bonuses to booster rockets, weapons, and producers like fuel tanks and electrical generators.  
  • The team is also working on future combinations that will allow for advanced weapon systems, auto tracking turrets and shields.

Advanced Construction Mode
  • As a result of community feedback a precision based construction mode has been added that gives gamers a more reliable control of angles, distances and symmetry to balance their stations in both operation and aesthetics. This will be the default construction mode in the game.

The Habitat HQ
  • Players now have a Habitat HQ! This is the player’s central hub and houses the Engineer Training Facility, where they can build new engineers for reinforcements. This also makes it a defensive focal point.  If the HQ gets destroyed, it’s game over.
  • As players face more challenges and areas to explore, they will have to balance the need for engineers and resources from the HQ with the risk of putting the HQ in danger.
  • More uses will be added for the Habitat HQ in the future.

New space junk, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes have also been added to the update and more functionality will be coming to HAL and the Combination system with future updates.

An Early Access build for PC, Mac and Linux is now available through Steam, Amazon, Humble Store, GameFly, Gamer's Gate, GreenMan Gaming and Nuuvem priced at $14.99, £10.99 and €14.99.  

In Habitat gamers have to build and manage the future homes of humanity from orbital debris they find in space junkyards surrounding Earth’s orbit.  Leading their team of engineers, they will have to build and fly space stations in a zero gravity setting, mastering physics driven flight simulation to explore space. In order to thrive and grow they have to manage their population and their population’s environment.  In the event of a threat they will have to turn their space stations into deadly weapons using pieces of debris picked up such as rockets, lasers and particle accelerators to fight and ultimately survive against attacks from the enemy. This is a space survival game where crisis is guaranteed and the only chance for survival is to be creative and decisive in the face of disaster.

Mega update of Quantum Rush takes new tracks online!

Just after the single player Quantum Rush: Champions developed by GameArt Studio got greenlit on Steam we have further great news today: The Quantum Rush team would like to announce that a great update went online successfully on Quantum Rush. Next to two new racetracks the update contains many bug fixes and wide optimizations.

In addition to the tunnel track "Selenit Tunnels" available to tiers 1 to 9 the volcano track with the name "Chthonic Crater" available to tiers 3 to 8 went online and open to racing.

On the fast track "Selenit Tunnels" the borders between up and down and left and right diffuse. As pilots race through the tunnels at breakneck speed they have to keep the perfect racing line in mind without colliding with one of the many moving obstacles!

On the track "Chthonic Crater", beginning at the foot of a volcano, participants fight their way through tunnels and caves filled with lava until they reach the glowing peak. Only those using a good cooling system can keep their head cool!

With the patch of today the highscore list is active again as well and the hunt for the top placements continues.

Senior pilots will especially like this: As by today tier 5 is available! Racer manufactures finally send their tier 5 racers into action so you can show who drives the best vehicle on our brand new race tracks! From now on tier 5 racers can be researched in the usual way over the research tree.
