New Publisher "Midnight City" Reveals 10 Indie Games at PAX

Majesco Entertainment Taps Industry Veterans Casey Lynch and Doug Kennedy to Run Newly Formed Indie Publishing Label Midnight City; Team Set to Launch Ten Recently Signed Games

VIDEOBALL, The Bridge, Blood of the Werewolf, and Organic Panic Lead the Digital Release Lineup

EDISON, NJ -- 08/29/13 -- Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of games for the mass market, announced today a newly formed label, Midnight City.  The newly formed division will focus on the ever-growing independent games market while offering support to independent developers shipping products on digital distribution platforms like Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC downloadable sites. Midnight City also announced the hiring of two key video game industry veterans to lead the newly formed division, Casey Lynch, former Editor-in-Chief of IGN, and Doug Kennedy, former President and CEO of Reverb Communications and Reverb Publishing. Midnight City announced an initial lineup of ten games (detailed below), which it will show off at PAX Prime in Seattle, WA from August 30 - September 2, 2013.

“Having been front and center watching the tidal wave of independent games coming through IGN, Majesco’s move to get behind these games truly speaks to the commitment they are making to the independent development community,” stated Lynch, Midnight City’s VP of publishing. “Over the years we have seen tons of really great games coming from smaller independent studios and our vision at Midnight City is to offer these games and development teams a wide range of services and support. We’re here to help with everything from first-party relations, QA, promotion and community building and to put a spotlight on the titles while freeing the development teams to focus 100% of their energy on building the best games possible.”

Prior to joining Midnight City, Lynch led IGN as Editor-in-Chief where he managed the editorial, community and brand presence of the largest video game and fan culture web network on the planet, which serves roughly 70 million unique visitors a month. Lynch also worked in business development and public relations on AAA video game franchises like Rock Band, Dance Central, and Prey. Kennedy joins Midnight City after leading Reverb Communications for the past 10 years, most recently forming Reverb Publishing, the digital publisher responsible for signing and releasing a number of digital independent hits like Dungeon Defenders, Primal Carnage, Sanctum 2 and Guncraft.

Midnight City’s initial roster of games slated for digital distribution include:

VIDEOBALL (Action Button Entertainment) - VIDEOBALL is an electronic sport game that features the best of basketball, soccer, football, old-fashioned shooters, first-person shooters, and real-time strategy games - and it's all on one screen, for easy spectating, and it controls with just one analog stick and one button. Choose from dozens of unique fields for one-on-one, two-on-two, or three-on-three local or online multiplayer competition, or check out the singleplayer or co-op challenge mode, full of practice arenas meant to turn you into a world champion. If we were sleazes and we were pitching this to Silicon Valley venture capitalists, we'd say "it's Call of Duty meets Madden meets Wii Sports meets Angry Birds meets NBA Jam meets Bangai-oh," and they'd ask us, "What's Bangai-oh?"

The Bridge (Ty Taylor)– A 2D logic puzzle game that will compel you to reevaluate your preconceptions of physics and perspective, The Bridge is Isaac Newton meets M. C. Escher. Manipulate gravity to redefine the ceiling as the floor while venturing through impossible architecture set in beautifully hand-drawn art in the style of a black-and-white lithograph. This excellent game design, in unison with fantastic visuals and an immersive environment, has garnered The Bridge more than a dozen wins and many more nominations from international independent game competitions, while The Bridge continues to earn more praise and attention from fans and the games media alike.

Blood of the Werewolf (Scientifically Proven)– You are Selena, a woman hell-bent on avenging her husband’s murder and rescuing her kidnapped son. The catch - Selena is a werewolf and shifts between her human and wolf form when in view of the full moon. Journey through a world filled with the most iconic monsters in pop lore, including the Creature, Hyde, Dracula, the Mummy, and Frankenstein in manic platforming across 15 white-knuckle levels that will test the reflexes of even the most stalwart MetroidVaniaMan.

Krautscape (Mario von Rickenbach)– With boutique elevated racing action and impossible bird-like flying cars, Krautscape subverts competitive multiplayer racing by allowing the leading player to actively determine the course and direction of the track - which generates as you play - while the chasing players can take aerial shortcuts by flying off the track to overcome obstacles. But the track is needed to score and to gain speed – the vehicles don't have any thrusters to accelerate while flying. Three unique multiplayer game modes support nonlinear gameplay and intelligent movement over forcing you to drive perfectly.

Slender: the Arrival (Blue Isle Studios) – In 2012, Mark "AgentParsec" Hadley captivated gamers around the world with Slender: The Eight Pages, a short, experimental game that breathed new life into the horror genre. Slender: The Arrival is the official continuation of the series from the original game creator and the writers behind the Marble Hornets series and the development team at Blue Isle Studios. The Arrival features a brand new storyline, improved visuals, awesome Oculus support, and most importantly, survival horror at its best.

Organic Panic (Last Limb)– In a world of gushing liquids and destructible physics, can you survive the ultimate food fight? Organic Panic is a co-op action bash'em-up platformer served with a healthy side of puzzles. Help a small band of Fruit and Veggie hero's armed with magical powers save the world from the Meats and Cheeses with a revolutionary physics engine that lets you break everything, with completely destructible levels and advanced liquids, allowing you to go crazy flooding entire levels with water, lava or acid.

High Strangeness (Barnyard Intelligence Games)– Inspired by your favorite RPG and action-adventure games of yesteryear, High Strangeness is a hybrid of 8 and 16 bit – it’s a 12 bit adventure! The game's core ability allows players to switch between 8 and 16 bit worlds and use the generational differences to solve puzzles and explore the universe. Throughout the game your pixel art perspective of the world will be interrupted by visions of watercolor illustrations that shed light on your mysterious surroundings. A hearty chiptune soundtrack by Dino Lionetti and Rich Vreeland backs up the aesthetic of the world and sets the mood for some truly strange happenings.

Super Rad Raygun: The Lost Levels (Tru Fun Entertainment) - It is the year 198X. Big hair is hot, and the war with the Soviets is colder than a refreshing glass of New Coke. RAD RAYGUN must travel the world fighting communist robots, and save the 1980's by shooting his way through the decade in a totally fresh, expanded version of the original XBLIG game. SUPER RAD RAYGUN: THE LOST LEVELS pits Rad against a whole new wave of deadly enemies and locations - from the Communist strongholds of the Far East to strategically insignificant islands off the South American coast. But chill out, because Rad has gnarly new weapons, upgrades, and a revamped gameplay engine to help him out. Ultra sharp 144p resolution graphics and 4 unique shades of monochrome off-green bring Super Rad Raygun to life, as only 80's mobile technology can.

Grapple (Tuesday Society Games) – Nothing can stop you in GRAPPLE. Go where you please in this 3D platformer that takes traditional design to the next level. As a ball of goo, extend your arm to swing anywhere. Remember how great swinging through Spider-Man 2 felt on the Xbox 1 (note: not Xbox One)? Grapple feels EVEN BETTER! Combine swinging with your ability to travel on any surface or at any angle, and no obstacle can stand in your way. Challenging levels test your skill to move through progressively more complex puzzles. Find out just how far you can Grapple.

Skyward Collapse Nihon no Mura Expansion Launches Ahead of PAX Indie MEGABOOTH Showing

PC/Mac indie studio Arcen Games is pleased to announce the release of the Nihon no Mura expansion for our god game Skyward Collapse. The game is available now on SteamGamersGate and the Arcen Store – and will land soon on various other digital storefronts.

The expansion adds the Japanese (along with its more than interesting mythology) as a new faction to the base game’s Norse and Greek line-ups, along with Hamlets – non-factional building constructions that enable several powerful new abilities. That leads into the additions of the Hamlet Idyll game mode as well as the Construct the Luminith Tower alternate win condition, and there are also new map and land tile types, new music from our composer Pablo Vega, and more.

Skyward Collapse 2.0 and Nihon no Mura will be on display in Seattle during PAX Prime this weekend as part of the Indie MEGABOOTH. In celebration of the launch and showing, both the base game and new expansion content are on discount through this week and all four days at PAX.

Along with the Nihon no Mura content, we’ll also be demoing our upcoming tactical turn-based roguelike –  Bionic Dues. The game features six classes of Exos – hovering mechs – and has players delving into a variety of facilities in Port City.

About Skyward Collapse Nihon no Mura

The floating continent of Luminith is now home to more than just the Norse and Greeks: the Japanese enter the fray as a playable faction.  The Japanese of Luminith have a very strong military and a very strange pantheon of gods: their gods are much more active and aggressive than their Greek and Norse counterparts, and each god has three unique creatures rather than three god tokens.  Learning to play this new style of faction effectively is a fun new challenge, because it changes the flow of everything: you can't drop the usual god tokens for points, instead having to rely on lots of creature summons.  Given how powerful this then makes the Japanese military, the Norse and Greek god tokens have to be used in new and creative ways to drive back this threat.

Hamlets are the other major addition in Nihon no Mura.  These non-combative, non-factional villages can be built in the remains of the fallen towns of either faction.  Ignore the hamlets and they will be taken over by slums.  Tend to them and you can build up a mix of nobles and peasantry that will generate a new Culture resource for you.  Culture allows you to activate some powerful new abilities, such as enlarging the radius of your factional towns.  Amass enough Culture and Sunstone and you can even win the game via a new method: constructing the incredible Luminith Tower.

Features
·         Unique new Japanese faction with a completely new way of handling their gods.
·         Hamlets allow for non-factional building construction that enable several powerful new abilities.
·         New "Hamlet Idyll" game mode that lets you play with hamlets without the military side of the game.
·         New alternate win condition!  Construct the Luminith Tower via resources earned in your hamlets.
·         Several new map types, woes, land tile types, and a useful new Military Outpost building for all factions.
·         More music!

About Bionic Dues
Bionic Dues is a tactical turn-based roguelike featuring "Exos" -- basically legless mechs that hover around. You play as one of six characters, and you remotely pilot any combination of four Exos pulled from six classes: Assault, Sniper, Science, Siege, Tank, and Brawler. The premise of the game has to do with these Exos. You were an ordinary citizen in a futuristic city... that was, naturally, taken over by robots. People still live in the city and try to go about their business, but frankly it's dangerous with the robots all around, killing people and causing other problems. But the expense of moving from the city is way more than a regular person can afford. And the common people can't even afford the bionic implants that would let them better defend themselves from the robots! Sheesh. But good ol' corporations have a deal for the citizenry: they'll give you bionic implants for free, so long as you do a tour of duty in the city, trying to wipe out the robots.

About Arcen Games
Arcen Games entered the PC indie scene in 2009 with their cult classic AI War: Fleet Command, which was named the 40th best-reviewed PC game of the year by MetaCritic. Their second year saw the release of The Zenith Remnant, the first two full expansions for AI War; as well as Tidalis, an innovative block-based puzzle with casual appeal and hardcore depth.

AI War's third and largest expansion Light of the Spire marked Arcen's first release of 2011, with the rest of the company's focus being devoted to their most massive project yet: A Valley Without Wind, which released in 2012. The end of 2012/start of 2013 has been another busy time for the team, with AI War's fourth expansion Ancient Shadows launching, A Valley Without Wind 2 hitting 1.0, and Shattered Haven's releasing as well. The studio just launched its latest title, turn-based strategic god game Skyward Collapse, this past May and now turns its attention to developing its latest project Bionic Dues along with adding new content to both AI War and Skyward Collapse over the coming months.

Originally a one-man shop, Arcen Games has grown to have half a dozen part-time or fulltime contributors to its various titles. The team is also proud to be a platinum sponsor of the Child’s Play charity. JOURNEY INTO THE TWILIGHT!
SANDBOX SCI-FI PC ADVENTURE DARKOUT GREENLIT FOR STEAM; NEW UPDATE LAUNCHED

Allgraf’s Alien Randomised Tale of Survival and Crafting to be Available on Steam and Reveals New Features and Content

August 29th, 2013, Leamington Spa, United Kingdom - Independent micro studio Allgraf today announced that its PC sci-fi action-game Darkout has been greenlit by the Steam community for commercial release. Darkout is a sandbox game with randomly generated levels wherein players must research, build, and defend themselves against alien beings that roam the night. New players ready to enlist can  join the Darkout universe in the commercial beta at digital download service Desura: http://www.desura.com/games/darkout
The greenlight success also follows the release of the latest patch update for the beta of Darkout. On top of hundreds of bug fixes, graphical and gameplay improvements, patch 1.1.5 includes new features including wrist device remote upgrades, a PDM menu, an overhauled death system and a host of new inventory items such as the shotgun, recall device and coloured lights.
“Darkout’s mix of survival, RPG elements and strategy into a sandbox game set in a universe with breathtaking environments, compelling story and rich history is sure to excite newcomers to the genre and veterans equally,” said Adrian Banninga, CEO and Game Director of Allgraf, “Darkout allows players to develop personalised strategies to survive in a hostile environment. The latest patch for the universe includes new features, additions and tweaks in our steps toward commercial release”.
As the only survivor of an escape pod crash on the planet Illuna, a world mankind tried to leave behind, Darkout challenges players to survive in harsh, procedurally generated biomes.  Utilizing the game’s sandbox technology, players build shelters, craft weapons and research new technologies, as they defend themselves from light-sensitive creatures that prowl the environments and become increasingly dangerous as darkness falls. Periods of twilight allow players limited security to explore, rebuild, and gather resources.
Darkout’s deep history manifests itself through logs left behind during the last days of man whilst others hearken back to long-extinct natives of Illuna, providing evidence into the events that led up to the pandemonium that now persists.

Founded in 2005 by Adrian Banninga with the focus on Graphical Outsourcing, Allgraf moved into independent games development in 2011. The studio functions as a hub for an international group of individuals specializing in gaming, print media, television and film. Allgraf provides a platform for those individuals to work together on outsourcing projects, in an industry where short term and project based employment is the norm and down time between contracts provides an opportunity to work together on new and exciting projects.
