RECEIVE THE JAGGED ALLIANCE CLASSIC PACK WHEN YOU BACK THE JAGGED ALLIANCE: FLASHBACK KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
Full Control teams up with Humble Bundle to offer backers the limited edition Classic Pack

Copenhagen, Denmark – April 30th, 2013 - Danish development studio Full Control announced today that it has partnered with Humble Bundle to give each backer of the Jagged Alliance: Flashback Kickstarter campaign a copy of the limited-edition Jagged Alliance Classic Pack. Upon successful completion of project funding, all backers who have contributed $5 or more will receive a collection of Jagged Alliancetitles, including Jagged Alliance, Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games, Jagged Alliance 2 and Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business in English. Additionally, the Classic Pack features Windows 7 support – a first for the franchise.
All Jagged Alliance Classic Packs will be distributed through Humble Bundle a few weeks after Kickstarter funding is successfully reached. The DRM free Windows, Mac and Linux versions of Jagged Alliance: Flashback will also be shipped through Humble Bundle to backers who pledged $25 or more upon commercial launch of the title in 2014. To contribute funds and qualify for the Jagged Alliance Classic Pack, please visit: http://kck.st/11A8VYf

“We are excited to be able to offer our Kickstarter supporters this valuable, limited edition Classic Pack to keep them entertained during the full development phase of Jagged Alliance: Flashback”, said Thomas Lund, CEO of Full Control. “Humble Bundle is a great partner, and we are grateful for their support during the funding phase of what we know will be an excellent addition to the Jagged Alliance brand”.
CEO Thomas Lund will be doing an IAMA on reddit today at 2pm Eastern Daylight Time (19.00 BST / 20:00 CET) to promote the Kickstarter and answer serious and fun questions from the fans.
Set in the late-1980’s on the Caribbean Island of San Christobal, Jagged Alliance: Flashback transports players back in time to the cold war era. They are to experience the events surrounding the foundation of A.I.M. the international mercenary organization. A destabilizing coup d’état establishes a powerful socialist regime. A hard-line fanatic U.S.S.R. General seizes the opportunity to establish a military base right under the nose of the U.S. Under the secret orders of the CIA, players must re-stabilize the balance of power in the region, restore the democratic government of San Christobal and drive out the U.S.S.R. presence by any means necessary.
Gameplay features will emphasize the core pillars that made the original games great: deep strategy, thrilling action and character RPG elements. The Kickstarter campaign  gives the fans the opportunity to determine the scope and scale of Jagged Alliance: Flashback, directly influence the shape of the game and participate during its development. With funding currently standing at over $104,000 over the first seven days, pledges beyond the funding goal of $350,000 will kick off new stretch goals to expand the core game by adding content and gameplay features.

Active Soccer - a VERY exciting multi-platform football game in development!

Hands up if the name Dino Dini is forever engraved in your skull?  Or if you get incredibly nostalgic when people talk about Kick Off / Kick Off 2 and Player Manager?

Thought so ... a veritable sea of virtual hands going up. Well, prepare to get excited!

Gianluca Troiano (AKA "The Fox" of "The Fox Software") was, back in the heyday of the 16-bit machines, World Kick Off 2 Champion on several occasions.    His freeware PC game Throw In, essentially a modern homage to KO2, is a great little game that stole a lot of my life a few years ago when I first discovered it.  However things are about to be taken to a whole new level...

After toying with our affections by promising a remake of Player Manager, Gianluca has gone one better - creating a multi-platform (iOS and Android at the moment, although check that your device is compatible because my slightly outdated Galaxy Ace can't run it) football game called Active Soccer, with which players can challenge each other independently of the platform they are running it on.

Here's what the developer says about Active Soccer:

"We are an indie studios that is producing Active Soccer a multi-platform football game that take inspiration by 90's classic games like Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2.  The game is a fast paced arcade game and it is the first online cross-platform football game ever!

Here are some features:

- Classic gameplay
- 360 degrees movements
- Total control of the game
- Exciting online multiplayer match
- Choose your preferred player and climb up the international ranking
- Compete in the world cup and try to prevail
- Draw the most effective tactic on the pitch and win
- Practice with free kicks and penalties
- 3D game engine
- iCade support (even on Android)

- Display retina support, iPhone5 4-inch display support.
- Soundtrack created by Chris Huelsbeck (Turrican, Jim Power, The Great Giana Sisters, x-Out and many other titles)
- Extremely fun!

The game is available for iOS on Apple Store
and it is available for Android on Google Play Market
Soon will be release PC Windows, Mac OS, Windows Phone 8, Playbook and BlackBerry 10 versions."

I am assured that a career mode is being worked on, though presumably after the initial porting to other platforms has been done.

Retro strategy battles with 5,000 units Machines at War 3 launches

Machines at War 3 is a real time strategy game featuring a 21 mission campaign, online multiplayer, and random map skirmishes.  You play as a commander who is aided by a fiery  officer named Samantha Vice.  She assists you in several missions trying to solve the mystery of why your country's secret research team named the Omicron Initiative has disappeared.  In these diverse missions you will target long range artillery guns, navigate stealth subs, defend bases with tower defenses, launch ICBMs, and build giant mega units capable of obliterating dozens of units.  Missions are rated on finishing time and if you complete a bonus objective.  For additional recon you can return to previously played missions to increase your rating and discover secret side missions.

In addition to the campaign you can test your metal in online multiplayer with up to three other recruits.  For offline cadets there is a random map system where you pit your skills against the game's AI.  When starting a random map you can adjust many options to create a unique match so no two are the same.  For example there is a setting that can change which units are available so you can play with only ground units.  Another setting can change the victory condition so that the first to kill a special leader unit wins.  With several options for each of these settings the game has massive replay value.

Machines at War 3 goes above and beyond with over 130 units to build and research.  To help manage this large assortment of machines they are classified into three tiers.  Upon starting only first tier units are available allowing you to ease into discovering all of them.  The game's interface further divides units into categories based on their role such as engineering, buildings, and defense.  This interface makes units easy to find and deploy in the heat of battle.

Later in a match after reaching the second tier of units you can build labs to research numerous technologies.  These grant special abilities like being able to see your enemies unit types or upgrade your current units.  In the third tier the game's full arsenal of machines is at your disposal.  It features a full complement of infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, subs, ships, hovercraft, ICBMs, and the most destructive machines called mega units.  These huge heavy hitting armaments are only available after finding and mining special resource nodes.  If control of a node is lost while building a mega unit, production is halted adding an interesting layer of conflict and strategy to the game.

Action and strategy gamers will enjoy Machines at War 3's diverse set of missions, wide assortment of units, online multiplayer, and extremely customizable random map system.  To advise the more casual player the game includes a friendly operator who guides them through a step by step tutorial.  After graduating from boot camp newbies are well equipped on the basics of the game and ready to get their boots dirty in full on combat!

TOUGH GUY STUDIOS SECURES FUNDING DEAL FOR NEW GAME

CAT Science Makes Strategic Investment in Innovating, Independent Danish Game Development

Copenhagen, Denmark – April 17, 2013 – Tough Guy Studios, an independent micro studio and creator of the critically acclaimed and off the wall mobile cult hit, Time Ducks, has secured funding for its next visionary title. CAT Game Invest a subdivision of CAT Science have invested $350,000 in the Tough Guys development studio to finance the multi-platform project that will be announced later in summer 2013.

"As a small indie developer, we have always valued our own independence and the prospect of securing funding for the second Tough Guys project whilst simultaneously retaining this was quite daunting,” said Morten Sommer, CEO and Games Designer at Tough Guy Studios, “In CAT Science we found an investor that  understands our crazy  game ideas and supports us financially with the freedom  of letting us make the  product we want for our gamers”.

“As an investor we are flooded with game concepts that are presented to us each year we found Tough Guy Studios’ concept to be extremely interesting,” said Allan Rasmussen, Investment Manager. “A great team with a great game concept is what we are always looking for. So we did not take very long to decide to invest in this project since we are convinced that this is going to become a great investment.”

Tough Guy Studios was founded in May 2011. The Tough Guy manifesto emphasizes that the gaming experience follows the Pareto distribution: 20% is induced by gameplay and 80% by the players imagination and emotions. The TGS games are all created with a tremendous respect for the medium and for the player. The game must always tickle the players conceptions and transcend the actual gaming experience.

Guns of Icarus Passes Kickstarter Goal

Guns of Icarus Online Reaches 100k Kickstarter Goal34 Days Remain to Reach Stretch Goals

Apr 16, 2013 – After a successful showing and Kickstarter launch at the PAX East show floor, Guns of Icarus Online(http://kck.st/YtnfSW) passed its initial funding goal of $100,000 today, marking their third successful campaign to be crowd funded via Kickstarter. The Guns of Icarus Online: Adventure Mode takes the combat engine of Guns of Icarus Online and adds large scale Player vs Environment (PvE) combat, player and ship progression, and much more to the acclaimed co-operative airship combat game. This primary goal covers the costs associated with creating AI controlled ships, planes, and missions/maps dedicated to a PvE setting. Find out more at www.GunsofIcarus.com.

Adventure Mode has three fundamental pillars, each with its own funding target and each building on the previous goals. These are:

·         AI Director (Funded!): At the heart of a good PvE experience is a smart, responsive AI that can go toe-to-toe with players and scale up or down on the fly to keep the experience challenging and entertaining. This pillar will enable the creation of co-op and solo missions to complement competitive PvP.

·         Econo-Political System: Adventure mode will add a world map of towns and trade routes, with six player factions and a fully dynamic resource economy. Missions are generated dynamically to help or hinder the towns and the factions that control them, depending on their circumstances and needs. Completing missions earns status in certain quarters and notoriety in others, enabling players to rise in the ranks of their chosen faction, unlock new opportunities and perks, and exert an even greater influence over the world.
·         World-Building Tools: A robust toolset is necessary to build an expansive world map with diverse and varied environments. This pillar involves the creation of new tools and processes to speed up the development of new maps and locales using a combination of procedural generation and manual composition. While the existing PvP maps have all been assembled painstakingly by hand, worldbuilding on the scale of Adventure Mode will require a whole new way of doing things.

Guns of Icarus Online is the premier airship combat game where up to 4 players man a single ship in their attempt to coordinate with their team to bring down the enemies in a variety of game modes. Adventure Mode expands on this format, creating a living online world with true player, town, and meta progression. Kickstarter backers will receive some amazing rewards for their support, including the return of the ultra-popular Bullet USB, now in a polished aluminum style as well as the original brass. More information at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/musegames/guns-of-icarus-onlineadventure-mode.

Star Sky - Out now on Android

The atmospheric and artistic game Star Sky, available on PC and iOS, is now available on Android.

Star Sky is not a game for everyone. It is a slow-paced game of exploring different choices. There are secrets to unlock, and for those who make it to the end, there is a lot of interesting things to reflect about. It is also a peaceful experience and a game about enjoying the ambience the world around you can provide. Make the choices, watch what happens, unlock the secret.

Star Sky is not a game you play for hours on end. You play it, see what there is to discover and then play it as many times as you feel like. Then hopefully you will return and finish it at some point, in order to unlock the end. The game is meant to be a relaxing and ambient experience focusing on creating a soothing atmosphere rather than intense gameplay. It is similar to an interactive poem. A poem that has several endings and allow you to explore different scenarios. It is important that you take your time and allow yourself to feel the game as you play it.

Alpha Sector represents the first new additional server to be made available to players since the games inception. It delivers a level playing field for new players while providing numerous game balance and feature enhancements.

Previously, as is the case with many MMO’s, all of the players in the game resided in a single universe, which never restarts. Starpires separates itself by being heavily centered on PvP combat while incorporating a great depth of strategy to the game play. Providing multiple universes allows for players to restart in a new, more competitive environment, while game play continues on other game servers. Bad Pug Games plans to launch additional game universes in the future and innovate different game mechanics and overall goals for many of them.

In parallel, Starpires has also reached another significant milestone with 100k total registrations. The majority of these signups have come since the beginning of the year as game marketing efforts begun to ramp up. According to Bad Pug Games CEO Matt Heaton, company focus will continue to shift to increasing player acquisition in the coming months.

Starpires can be played for free online at http://www.starpires.com or on Facebook at http://apps.facebook.com/starpires

Fantastic release for MMORTS Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars

Toronto, Canada – 11/04/2013 Indie online RTS game Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars was successfully released on Steam earlier this month, with thousands of new players joining the game, looking for fantasy siege battles to fight and making the game world active day and night.

The successful release of this 'greenlit' title demonstrates the importance of Steam's Greenlight project for indie developers and the power of the Steam player community that voted for the game. Success has also brought much needed revenue to small, indie developer Reverie World Studios, who have worked for years with very little funding.

"The response on Steam has been overwhelming and we're excited to see so many players enjoying the game" stated Executive Producer Konstantin Fomenko. "It's time to give back to the player community supporting our indie title - with a free expansion pack and numerous planned weekly additions."

Reverie World Studios has revealed players can soon expect to see alliances, magica and more towns to siege added to the game, as well as some changes based on player suggestions. In addition, work on a free full fledged expansion – Siegeworks – has resumed after being put on hold to work on the Steam release.

To celebrate the successful release of Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars, Reverie World Studios is extending it's epic sale on their website with an exclusive bonus offer for those who buy directly from the developer.

Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars is a persistent online RTS with MMO, RPG and city builder elements, set in a fantasy world where humans, elves, orcs, dwarves and dragons battle for supremacy. Players build up cities and armies, gather and trade resources, complete quests, unlock achievements and fight in co-op, PvP and PvE battles.

Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars is available on Steam, and other game portals, with language support for English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish.
